  • 5. Insight #1: Increasing ProductivityIncreasing productivity is the main objective for collaboration infrastructureacross all size companies  Overall, improving productivity is the top objective for collaboration infrastructure. And, providing mobile email is believed to have maximum impact on productivity  This opinion is voiced across all levels of management  Sustainability remains least on the priority especially with C-level managers with only 15% opting for it  Mid-sized companies also sighted reduction in operational costs as amongst the main drivers for using collaboration technologyProductivity Empowerment Improve Lower Sustainability Innovation communication Operational Costs

Insight #2: Next InitiativeCost reduction and adding applications to collaboration infrastructure will be thepopular move  Though large and mid-size companies have a long term objective of increasing productivity their immediate next step on collaboration infrastructure is cost reduction and improving security  Mid-size companies have mentioned that adding more applications to their collaboration infrastructure would also be amongst their top priorities  Unlike large and mid-size companies, next initiative of small companies would be to improve performance of collaboration infrastructure apart from cost reduction  C-level managers, apart from cost reduction, prefer adding more applications whereas junior managers Expand Reduce Provide Improve More Improve Improve have given preference to improving Capacity Cost Mobile Reliability Applications Security Performance security Access
  • 7. Insight #3: Methods to Manage CostLarger and mid-size companies believe that a combination of virtualisation andopen source software is the most effective way to manage costs. Smallercompanies rely more on open source software to reduce cost.  Senior and junior managers have given preference to open-source and virtualisation  However, C-level managers across all companies have a distributed opinion of cloud-based services, open-source, virtualisation and private cloud for cost reduction.
