    • Cc’s Cont’…
    • Domain Fundamentals   Originally domains were limited to only 26 characters. About 10 years ago, that was increased to 67 characters (to the left of the period).   FirstTimeHomeBuyerTaxCredit.com Sold in Mar 09 Why??   As of Feb 19th 2009 IRS allowed for up to $8K tax credit for ‘First Time Home Buyers’ Suddenly, this domain becomes valuable because it is now a popular search term.   Now it is a popular search term.   The key is to find/buy domains that are either popular search terms or have ‘natural type-in traffic.
    • Domain Fast Facts   183 million domains currently registered.   Most of them are worth around $10.   Be careful if you are looking to become a domain investor as there are many pitfalls.   One trend is to incorporate the extension as being part of the meaning of the whole domain. Example Del.icio.us Show.me AsSeenOn.tv   Almost ¼ of the worlds population uses the Internet.   That means there is potential growth for 3/4’s of the worlds population.   June 2009 92 million COM and NET domain names, 24 % of these domains have one page websites.   64% have multipage websites or 58.6 million websites.   12% have no associated websites.
    • Notable Domain Sales* Sex.com $12.1 Million IRS.com $11.1 Fund.com $10.0 Beer.com $ 7.0 Capital.com $ 7.0 Diamond.com $ 7.0 Business.com $ 7.0 Casino.com $ 5.5 Toys.com $ 5.1 Wine.com $ 3.3 Toys.com $ 5.1 Korea.com $ 5.0 Candy.com $ 3.0 Computer.com $ 2.1 Seniors.com $ 1.8 * Due Mostly to NDA’s, approx. only 10% of domain sales are reported
    • Domains For Business Fundamentals   A to Z, 0 to 9, hyphen and up to 67 characters   Name Relevancy – don’t get cute   Extension: ca or .com or ?   Proper Spelling   Keywords   Valuation – How much to spend?   Where/how to find good domains?
    • Check List Summary   Buy in appropriate extension – never go wrong with a .com.   Make sure you have key word(s) in domain.   Make sure there is no confusion in spelling or telling someone the domain address.   Stay away from hyphens and #’s.   Keep it short and meaningful.   Invest the appropriate amount of money on your domain purchase.
    • Be Careful Domains are case-insensitive   Who Represents   Therapist Finder   Experts Exchange   PowerGen Italia
    • …What You Ask For Corporate Name Domain Name   Who Represents = WhorePresents.com   Therapist Finder = TheRapistFinder.com   Experts Exchange = ExpertSexChange.com   PowerGen Italia = PowerGenitalia.com
    • Simple Domain Tip #1 Instead of www.thisismydomain.biz Do This ThisIsMyDomain.biz Or Even ThisIsMyDomain.biz
    • Simple Domain Tip #2   ‘Even though I have a lousy domain, I’ve spent so much time and money on it, I don’t want to change to something new even if it is better’.   ‘Have your cake and eat it’. -Buy the best domain you can and redirect it to your current existing site. -This way, you keep both of your old customers and bring in many more new ones!
    • Simple Domain Tip #3 If you have or plan to develop a meaningful website:   try to protect and support your domain by buying similar search term domains. Example: You have MyFavouriteFood.ca Consider: -MyFavouriteFood.com/net/org. -MyFavoriteFood.ca -FavouriteFood.ca/com/net/org.
    • Questions.com   Although this is an online Psychic and Spiritual Network, I am unable to guess what questions you have – so ask away!
