  2. 2. Why facebook?• According to comScore, Facebook drew more than 200 million unique visitors in December of 2008 compared to MySpaces roughly 115 million.• Just six months ago received around 100 million visitors.
  3. 3. What is Facebook Connect?• The next evolution of Facebook Platform• It enables the integration of the Facebook Platform into your own site, allowing your users to: – Seamlessly "connect" their Facebook account and information with your site – Connect and find their friends who also use your site – Share information and actions on your site with their friends on Facebook through their profile pages & newsfeeds
  4. 4. How does it work?
  5. 5. What does it bring to my site?• Identity: Seamlessly connect the users Facebook account and information with your site.• Friends: Bring a users Facebook friends into your site. You can even link friends that have existing accounts.• Discovery: Publish information back into their friends News Feeds on Facebook.• Privacy: Bring dynamic privacy to your site using XFBML.• Reliability: The full power and flexibility of Facebook Platform.
  6. 6. Trusted Authentication• Users can connect their Facebook account with any partner Web site using their simplified and trusted authentication.• Whether at login, or anywhere else a developer would like to add social context, the user can authenticate and connect their account in a trusted environment.• The user will have total control of the permissions granted.
  7. 7. Real Identity• Facebook users represent themselves with their real names and real identities. With Facebook Connect, users can bring their real identity information with them wherever they go on the Web, including: basic profile information, profile picture, name, friends, photos, events, groups, and more.
  8. 8. Friend Linking• People count on Facebook to stay connected to their friends and family.• With Facebook Connect, they can take their friends with them wherever they go on the Web.• Developers can add rich social context to their sites.• Developers even can dynamically show which of their Facebook friends already have accounts on their sites.
  9. 9. Dynamic Privacy• As a user moves around the open Web, their privacy settings will follow them, ensuring that users information and privacy rules are always up to date. For example, if a user changes their profile picture, or removes a friend connection, this will be automatically updated in the external site. And the users can control who can see what pieces of their information - the same rules that they set on Facebook can be applied through your site too using our dynamic privacy controls.
  10. 10. Social Distribution• As a user moves around the open Web, they discover interesting content, share information about themselves, and engage in a lot of experiences. With Facebook Connect, users can easily share and distribute this information and actions to their friends via Facebook Feed, requests, and notifications.

  15. 15. Why Should I Use Facebook Connect? • One-click Login: Allow users to log in with their Facebook identity and allow your site to access their Facebook profile information. • Increased engagement: Leverage users personal interests to show more relevant information and surface personalized content from friends such as reviews or comments. • New forms of distribution: Users can share content and actions taken on your site with friends back on Facebook through feed, invites, and other social communication channels on Facebook. • Access to Facebook Platform: Use the same APIs that have allowed more than 670,000 developers to build more than 52,000 engaging applications for Facebook users since May 2007.
