  • 2. FOLK AND ETHNIC MUSIC COME FROM TRADITIONS OF A SPECIFIC ETHNICITY, POPULATION,GEOGRAPHICAL AND CULTURAL CONTEXT.
  • 3. POPULAR MUSIC: MUSIC DESIGNED, CREATED AND WRITTEN FOR PEOPLE WITH THE LANGUAGE OF THE PEOPLE. FOLK MUSIC: MUSIC THAT COMES FROM PEOPLEAND WHOSE ORIGINS ARE LOST IN THE MISTS OF TIME
  • 4. THIS MUSIC IS CLOSELY CONNECTED TO REGIONAL DANCES AND MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS THAT CAN ACCOMPANY THEM. IT CAN BE PLAYED BY AMATEURAND NON-PROFESSIONAL MUSICIANS.
  • 5. ITALY HAS A RICH HERITAGE OF FOLKSONGS, BUT VERY, VERY, DIFFERENT IN THE 20 REGIONS!!! SONGS OF LOVE, SERENADE, LULLABIES AND WORK SONGS.
  • 6. INSTRUMENTS LIKE: FISARMONICA (accordion), MANDOLIN, OCARINA, SCACCIAPENSIERI, ZAMPOGNA (bagpipe), WHISTLE,TAMBURELLO AND PUTIPÙ (kinds of drum),ARE VERY IMPORTANT, IN THE ITALIAN FOLK TRADITION, IN DIFFERENT REGIONS
