Moundville <ul><li>Moundville Archaeological Park, a National Historic Landmark, overlooks the Black Warrior River. </li></ul><ul><li>There are 26 pre-historic, Mississippian-era Native American mounds, burial sites and artifacts. </li></ul>800 years ago, Moundville was the largest city in North America.
How are mounds made? <ul><li>The mounds are actually burial sites. As people died they were buried and covered in dirt. As more died, they were added on top of the others. As more people died, the mound grew larger. </li></ul>
