The Greatest Invention of the 19 th Century There are many different candidates but there can only be one.
Count Alessandro Giuseppe Antonio Anastasio Volta invented batteries in 1800.
It powers thing that need a power source to work. Without them, people would have to find a different way to power certain things.
Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone in 1876. It lets people talk to other people that are far away easily. Without it, people would still be using telegraphs.
The Light bulb
Thomas Alva Edison invented the light bulb in 1879. It lets people see much better when it is dark outside. Without it people would have a much harder time doing activities or just seeing when it is dark out.
Karl Benz invented it in 1889. It lets people get around much easier than walking. Without cars people would not be able to get to far away places easy. They would have to take a plane or a train to go far away and that costs a lot of money.
Charles Babbage invented it in 1835. It lets people do math problems instead of people doing them in their head. It lets people do problems that they can't do in their head. Without it, it would be very hard for people to do math at their job or in math class.
Which Invention is the Best?
After reviewing all of the slides I have decided that the automobile is the most important invention of the 19 th century because it would be so hard for anyone to get around.
