  • 4. 1 Afan Forest ParK PARC COEDWIG AFAN Are you up for it? If you like riding challenging singletrack trails, you’ll love Afan Forest Park. With over 100km of singletrack, Afan Forest Park is the home of four world class trails: White’s Level, Skyline, W2 and Y Wâl. Each of the trails offer a unique challenge. Skyline is a giant of a ride with dramatic views of the Brecon Beacons, the Preselis, the Black Mountains and the South Wales coast. In contrast, White’s Level is 90% purpose-built singletrack that requires technical riding skill (and a big set of lungs at the start). The trails start and finish from Afan Forest Park Visitor Centre and Glyncorrwg Mountain Bike Centre (further up the Afan Valley). Both venues have a car park, cafe and in-house facilities catering for all your biking needs. There is also a low level cycle trail called ‘Y Rheilffordd’ that can be used as a link between all trails and venues within the park.

  • 8. 2 cwmcarn Need for speed? This is the destination for all you downhill adrenaline junkies. The Y Mynydd course consists of two man-made downhill trails, simply named red run and black run. The course demands a high level of skill (and guts). You’ll be challenged with loads of berms, a few switch backs, doubles, a tunnel, rock steps, the bridge, hip jump and the quarry gap. The jumps are there if you want them, but can be ridden around if not. An uplift pass is available at www.cwmdown.co.uk. Cwmcarn is also home of the Twrch Trail, a 15.5km singletrack loop that provides a steep climb at the start followed by a rollercoaster decline. The Twrch Trail and uplift service start from the car park.

  • 12. 3 brechfa First timers?Eich tro cyntaf? The trails in Brechfa Forest offer something for novice riders but also cater for those who crave a more demanding venture. Located on the brink of the brooding Cambrian Mountains with views of the green Towy Valley, this huge forest in Carmarthenshire has all weather surfaces and is perfect all year round (sun, snow, storms... we go out in anything). The Derwen trail consists of two routes; a green route for novice riders and a blue route that can be used to improve your technical skills. The Raven and Gorlech trails are aimed at more advanced riders with jumps, fast singletrack, a Northshore Bridge and testing climbs. In terms of diversity of trails, it has it all! Mae gan y llwybrau yng Nghoedwig Brechfa ddigon i’w gynnig i feicwyr newydd, ond maen nhw’n darparu hefyd ar gyfer y rhai sy’n chwenychu menter sy’n fwy o her. Yn y goedwig anferth hon yn Sir Gaerfyrddin ar ymylon arucheledd Mynyddoedd Cambria, a chanddi olygfeydd dros lesni Dyffryn Tywi, mae arwynebau’r llwybrau’n addas ar gyfer pob tywydd. Mae’n berffaith trwy gydol y flwyddyn felly (heulwen, eirfa, stormydd... awn ni allan boed hindda neu ddrycin). Mae Llwybr Derwen yn cynnwys dau lwybr: llwybr gwyrdd i egin reidwyr a llwybr glas lle gallwch chi wella eich sgiliau technegol. Bwriedir Llwybr y Gigfran a Llwybr Gorlech ar gyfer beicwyr mwy profiadol ac uchelgeisiol, gyda’u neidiau, trac sengl cyflym, Pont Glan y Gogledd a dringfeydd go ddyrys. Mae popeth ar gael yma, o ran amrywiaeth llwybrau!
