  • 1. The InheritanceGenesis 12
  • 2. 12 The Lord had said to Abram, “Go from yourcountry, your people and your father’shousehold to the land I will show you. 2 “I willmake you into a great nation, and I will blessyou; I will make your name great, and you willbe a blessing. 3 I will bless those who blessyou, and whoever curses you I will curse; andall peoples on earth will be blessed throughyou.”Genesis 12:1-3
  • 3. They said to Moses, “Was it because therewere no graves in Egypt that you brought us tothe desert to die? What have you done to usby bringing us out of Egypt? Didn’t we say toyou in Egypt, ‘Leave us alone; let us serve theEgyptians’? It would have been better for us toserve the Egyptians than to die in the desert!”Exodus 14:11-12
  • 4. That night all the members of the communityraised their voices and wept aloud. All theIsraelites grumbled against Moses and Aaron, and the whole assembly said to them, “If onlywe had died in Egypt! Or in this wilderness! Why is the Lord bringing us to this land only tolet us fall by the sword? Our wives and childrenwill be taken as plunder. Wouldn’t it be betterfor us to go back to Egypt?”Numbers 14:1-4
  • 5. The Lord said to Moses, “How long will thesepeople treat me with contempt? How long willthey refuse to believe in me, in spite of all thesigns I have performed among them? I willstrike them down with a plague and destroythem, but I will make you into a nation greaterand stronger than they.”Numbers 14:11-12
  • 6. The Lord replied, “I have forgiven them, as youasked. Nevertheless, as surely as I live and assurely as the glory of the Lord fills the wholeearth, not one of those who saw my glory andthe signs I performed in Egypt and in thewilderness but who disobeyed me and testedme ten times— not one of them will ever seethe land I promised on oath to their ancestors. No one who has treated me with contempt willever see it.Numbers 14:20-23
  • 7. 17 So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do,in the futility of their thinking. 18 They aredarkened in their understanding and separatedfrom the life of God because of the ignorancethat is in them due to the hardening of theirhearts. 19 Having lost all sensitivity, they havegiven themselves over to sensuality so as toindulge in every kind of impurity, and they arefull of greed.Ephesians 4:17-32
  • 8. 20 That, however, is not the way of life youlearned 21 when you heard about Christ andwere taught in him in accordance with the truththat is in Jesus. 22 You were taught, with regardto your former way of life, to put off your oldself, which is being corrupted by its deceitfuldesires; 23 to be made new in the attitude ofyour minds; 24 and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness andholiness.Ephesians 4:17-32
  • 9. 25 Therefore each of you must put offfalsehood and speak truthfully to yourneighbor, for we are all members of one body.26 “In your anger do not sin”[d]: Do not let thesun go down while you are still angry, 27 and donot give the devil a foothold. 28 Anyone whohas been stealing must steal no longer, butmust work, doing something useful with theirown hands, that they may have something toshare with those in need.Ephesians 4:17-32
  • 10. 29 Do not let any unwholesome talk come outof your mouths, but only what is helpful forbuilding others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. 30 And donot grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whomyou were sealed for the day of redemption. 31Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form ofmalice.Ephesians 4:17-32
  • 11. 32 Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ Godforgave you.Ephesians 4:17-32
