    1. Creative Commons Licensing To: My Employers at Comfort Pro Cody R. Yeich September 28, 2007
    2. How did Creative Commons come together?
      • CC wanted to find a simpler way to allow some uses of certain works.
      • They were told that there was no office like that, so get c r e a t i v e !
      • The idea was then put into work: owners could decide which of their works could be used and under what conditions
      • Rules were written for lawyers and courts  translated into words anyone can understand  translated once more for computers
      • Example – allowing someone to use your song as long as they give you the credit .
    3. Creative Commons Licensing: Skipping the Intermediaries
      • CC is very different from “the Big C” (also known as copyright, recognizable by this symbol: ©)
      • Allows users to use the powers of the net without asking for permission…permission has already been given
      • It is not meant to compete with “the Big C”; it is meant to compliment
    4. Copyright vs. Creative Commons Licensing
      • Copyright is like a red light.
      • User must ask permission.
      • All rights reserved.
      • “ No trespassing!”
      • Creative Commons is like a green light.
      • Permission is already given.
      • Some rights reserved.
      • “ Please come in!”
    5. The Benefits of Creative Commons
      • As soon as a report is saved or a picture is taken, it is protected by that tiny little symbol… ©
      • However, as stated in “Building on the Past”, creativity always builds on the past
      • CC does not mean the copyright is void…it is simply refined to work better for the owner
      • The owner builds their own license with as many, or as few, restrictions as he or she would like
      • CC makes hundreds of songs, pictures, written works available for Y O U R use!
      • SHARING = CREATIVITY!!
    6. How Creative Commons applies to you, Comfort Pro.
      • There are so many suppliers to the Comfort Pro company. If the suppliers did not share their ideas and inventions, the number of suppliers would be very small
      • If the suppliers did not share, how would Comfort Pro have even obtained the ideas and inventions?
      • Comfort Pro then shares its own work with the people and businesses it works on. If there was no Creative Commons, how could so many people benefit from the wonderful work you do?
