EXPECTATIONS of COACH TOMES
How to Be a SEMINOLE
SEMINOLES ARE ON TIME Tardy Policy: Late=Detention Bell=Door Locks Reason for Policy I can’t teach you if you’re not here. Lateness is a bad habit to have. (jobs fire you for it) School says you have to be on time. Watkins Tardy Punishment Artist’s Rendition: May not reflect actual punishment.
General School RulesDress Code“Fruit of the Loom” Clause If we can tell what brand your underwear is, you are not dressed right. Tuck the shirts in! You will be sent home for violating dress code. If you aren’t sure if it’s okay, don’t wear it.
General School RulesCell Phone/Electronic Devices If we see it, we’re supposed to take it. You will be asked to put it away, if you refuse we have to take it. Never have items of value near your broke teachers!
Classroom Expectations With Coach Tomes I expect …… S: Success E: Energy M: Materials I: Immediacy N: Nice O: Order L: Listening E: Esteem S: Smiles
Success Do not expect to fail. Expect to succeed, then do the work to find success. Have a positive attitude. Maintain the A that everyone starts with.
Energy Be awake, take part in discussions, and stay focused to what we are doing. Listen to what directions are given and ask for clarification if you do not understand.
Materials Have something to write with when you show up for class. Take care of the supplies you use here. Do not lose or take items with you without permission. Be prepared for class when you get here.
Immediacy Be here, be here every day, and be here on time. If it’s time to be somewhere, go right away. When its time to work, get started right away. When asked to do something, don’t wait.
Nice Follow “the Radio Rule”. Use an appropriate tone of voice. Consider who is around you when you are talking.
Order Desks are to remain in their current place. Nothing is left on your desk when you leave unless given permission. Clear your area and messes before leaving.
Listening Pay attention to what you are told to do. Ask questions and speak up if you do not understand. Do not develop habit of nodding along like you understand.
Esteem Show respect to everyone in the room, including yourself. Be mindful of others who may be in the room observing or visiting Coach Tomes. Hands and negative comments are kept to yourself.
Smiling You have to be here. Might as well have fun. Make the most of the chance to improve your reading; the most important thing you can get better at in your life. Do not let bad attitudes make yours bad. Menomena.
HOW TO STAY ON THE GOOD SIDE OF COACH TOMES Show Up. Behave. Try. Be nice. Be a Seminoles, not a Squirrel. Seminoles would hunt and eat squirrels.
Squirrel-Free ZoneDon’t be a squirrel. Squirrels look nice, but they don’t act right. Squirrels never sit still. Squirrels make a mess when they eat. Squirrels take things that aren’t theirs. Squirrels get into things and places where they don’t belong.
Don’t Be a Squirrel Squirrels vandalize and damage property that they shouldn’t. Squirrels make annoying noises. Squirrels make foolish decisions. Squirrels can never sit still.
Being a Squirrel Will Cause You Problems Squirrels never graduate from high school, so they do things that are not smart. Squirrels always get caught doing something bad. Because they are impulsive, squirrels have bad things happen to them.
