  4. 4. What is it?  It is essentially a group live video chat done right…can have up to 10 participants (possible 15 on Google Apps)  Google+ platform and Hangouts were launched June 28, 2011  Cost: $585 million, 500 employees to build  Communication tool to collaborate with people
  5. 5. What can Hangouts do?  Messaging (chat room IM)  Video Calls (1 person or 10…up to 15 with G+ Apps)  Hangouts On Air ( “Live Show”on YouTube or other site like Facebook, Edmodo that is also recorded for later viewing)
  6. 6. How can I use it?  Meetings with colleagues or parents  Live video lectures  Flipped Classroom lecture w/ HOA  Virtual office hours  Demonstrate software  Collaborate on a Google document  Watch a YouTube video and discuss  Video announcement and share
