  3. 3. <ul><li>This is a designated time to work with students enhancing their literacy skills. </li></ul><ul><li>Our goal is to help each child be successful on the 8 th grade writing test. </li></ul><ul><li>*Students will rotate through each academic class once per nine week period. In each class students will produce a piece of writing that will count as a test grade. </li></ul>
  4. 4. <ul><li>Academic Recovery Plan </li></ul><ul><li>All assignments, study guides and projects must be completed before retest date. </li></ul><ul><li>The ARP for retest must be student initiated. </li></ul><ul><li>The ARP for retest must be requested within 5 days after receiving the original test. </li></ul><ul><li>Original test must be signed by the parent. The test needs to be corrected and returned prior to retest. </li></ul><ul><li>Retake grade is the grade given regardless if lower. </li></ul><ul><li>No retest applications will be accepted during the last 3 days of any grading period </li></ul><ul><li>No retest is allowed for Benchmark Tests or quizzes. </li></ul>
  5. 5. <ul><li>All subject areas have tutoring Wednesdays at 8:45.a.m. </li></ul><ul><li>Special arrangements can be made with individual teachers if necessary for additional assistance. </li></ul>

The parent will meet with all members of your child’s team. </li></ul><ul><li>Confirmation letters are sent home a few weeks before with a time and day selected. </li></ul><ul><li>Conference dates are: </li></ul><ul><li>November 12 and 13 </li></ul><ul><li>February 11 and 12 </li></ul><ul><li>You may request a conference outside of these dates if you feel a need. Please contact one of your child’s teachers and this can be arranged. </li></ul>

Sixth Grade Students (For Promotion to 7 th Grade) Must earn passing grade averages each semester in no less than 4 out of 5 classes with connections classes combined into one semester average . Both Language Arts and Math must have passing averages each semester. First Semester – average of 1 st & 2 nd nine weeks progress report grades Second Semester – average of 3 rd & 4 th nine weeks progress report grades Students must earn a passing grade average both semesters in order to pass the course for the school year.

  12. 16. <ul><li>1 st 9 weeks: Graphing,coordinate planes, estimation, decimals, algabraic equations,place value, exponents, order of operations, decimals,fractions </li></ul><ul><li>2 nd 9 weeks:Prime factorication,GCM, LCM, algabraic equations using whole numbers, ratiosn, proportions,geometry </li></ul><ul><li>3 rd 9 weeks: Geometry,measurement,metric and standard, </li></ul><ul><li>4 th 9 weeks:Probability,integers, proportions,graphing linear equations, </li></ul>
  13. 17. <ul><li>Study guides are sent home 1-2 weeks before each quiz to be signed by a parent. Signing the study guide lets me know you know the date of the quiz and what the material will cover. </li></ul><ul><li>Another study guide will go home after that quiz going over material on the next quiz. </li></ul><ul><li>Both study guides combined will cover what is on the next test. </li></ul><ul><li>Students work on the study guide at their own pace and bring questions to class that they are having difficulties on. </li></ul><ul><li>Signed study guides are due at the time of the test and are graded on their completeness and effort. </li></ul>
