How to catch
a lobster
Hi
My name’s Christina
That’s me

  Hi
My name’s Christina
I come
from Maine
And within
Maine…
from a small
fishing village
called Cutler.
that’s
                 Cutler

called Cutler.
And in Cutler
most folks are
lobster fishermen.
most folks are
lobster fishermen.
            Including…
My Father

most folks are
lobster fishermen.
            Including…
and My Brother
                          My Father

most folks are
lobster fishermen.
                      Including…
And they’re pretty good
     at catching lobster.
They head out
each morning

            in their boats
as the sun is rising
past the
marker buoy
past Little River
Island
to their buoys.
They gaff
each buoy
haul up the trap

  with the pot hauler
haul up the trap

  with the pot hauler

      That’s the pot hauler
And bring it
aboard the boat.
And bring it
aboard the boat.

                There’s the bait bag
                      (Stinky!)

 and change the bait...
and measure
each lobster
                     to ensure
               it’s legal size
with this.
with this.
It’s called a lobster gauge
and goes here on a lobster.
If the lobster is too
                 small or too big it’s
                       set free.

and goes here on a lobst...
If the lobster’s legal size it’s
brought home and sold
If the lobster’s legal size it’s
brought home and sold

But how did the lobsters get
in the trap in the first place?
Well…
The lobster is attracted to
the trap by the scent of
         the bait.
The lobster is attracted to

           Which goes in here
He goes into the trap
through the front heads

Once the traps have
been hauled

      and the lobsters have
               been caught
They head back into
the harbor
crate up their catch
and moor
their boats.
It’s hard work
