2. In the D&L room
• I tell dad to put the hospital bed (head higher)
to help in mom bearing down
• Taught mom how to bear down, moan, push
and deep cleansing breath and taught dad to
hold on to ankle to press and bring legs forward in
slightly side position
3. If labor is not coming
• To take a walk, shower and to dance
• To have sex, sing and listen to music
• To eat whole foods (nutritious one)
• To walk the stairs
• To do nipple stimulation
• To massage ankle, inner thighs
4. Months before labor
• To walk a mile a day
• To eat food rich in Vit K (not to bleed easy,
alfalfa, greens, eggs) and iron (no soda, sugar, salty,
processed foods)
• To do kegel exercise (stopping of urine anywhere
pushing pelvic muscles forward and back like belly dance)
• To talk to all moms who delivered their babies
at home or vaginally and get some tips
5. Breastfeeding
• Get breastfeeding support and reading before
baby is born or just after baby is born
• Relax, nourish mom and well supported can
breastfed (unmedicated mom since any meds or
drugs goes to the breastmilk)
• No bottle first month, baby on mom’s skin after
birth and baby to suck mom’s breast every 2 hours
6. Homebirth
• For healthy pregnant moms with no
hypertension (nourished mom can reduce this
risk) or spilling of protein in urine or anemia or
moms with drugs during the early trimester or
before pregnancy
• $3k versus $6k expense, home is cleaner than
hospital and midwives more skilled than OBs
