THE MASOOMIN FOOTBALL LEAGUE ASSOCIATION THE AIM OF THE MFLA IS TO PROVIDE THE SERVICE OF FOOTBALL TO THE MEMBERS (15 and over), IN AS MANY FORMS AS POSSIBLE, IN AN ENJOYABLE, COMPETITIVE AND ORGANISED MANNER, USING WHERE APPROPIATE THE PROFESSIONAL GAME AS A TEMPLATE THE BOARD 2011 Chair – Ali Raza Meghjee Vice – Ali Dharamshi Members – Hussein Somji, ImranRajabali, Kashif Sheikh MSC Liason – MazarGulamhussein
THE LEAGUE/s EXPLAINED 2 TIER LEAGUE SYSTEM
All 12 teams will play 6 randomly drawn fixtures over the first 6 weeks of the opening season. At the end of week 6 the TOP 6 teams will be placed in the MASOOMIN PREMIER LEAGUE. The remaining 6 teams will form the MASOOMIN CHAMPIONSHIP.
At the end of the season the bottom 2 teams in the MASOOMIN PREMIER LEAGUE will be relegated to the MASOOMIN CHAMPIONSHIP. The team finishing TOP of the MASOOMIN CHAMPIONSHIP will be automatically promoted to the MASOOMIN PREMIER LEAGUE
Teams placed 2nd to 5th inclusive in the MASOOMIN CHAPMIONSHIP will then take part in a play-off to determine the second team to be promoted to the MASOOMIN PREMIER LEAGUE
THE LEAGUE/s EXPLAINED ‘MIDLANDS QUALIFICATION’
The teams finishing 1st and 2nd of the MASOOMIN PREMIER LEAGUE at the end of the season qualify to represent MASOOMIN SPORTS CLUB in a Midlands 5 a-side league next season either at GOALS! Or Powerleague – entrance fee paid for by the MFLA.
The qualifying teams may be entered as 2 independent teams or as a single squad depending on player commitment.
Please note – The MFLA will may league entrance however weekly match fees must be paid by individual players.
THE LEAGUE/s EXPLAINED THE MFLA CUP
The MFLA cup is a knockout cup competition for all teams of both leagues to participate in. The Final of the MFLA cup will be the last fixture of the Masoomin Football League Season with the venue of the final yet to be confirmed.
The finalists of the MFLA Cup will be seeded and thus will not need to participate in Round One of the competition next season.
THE LEAGUE/s EXPLAINED External Fixtures
The MFLA understands the need to participate in friendly matches and competition against teams outside our community in order to enhance football ability and discipline.
The MFLA will therefore arrange regular 5 a side fixtures for all abilities. Team will be formed by the ‘selection committee’, which for the year 2011 will be the MFLA board.
Selection will be based solely on current form and discipline.
The MFLA also aims to arrange a minimum of two 11 a-side fixtures during the season.
THE LEAGUE/s EXPLAINED When?
Football League fixtures will be held every SUNDAY evening 7-9pm where possible. If for any reason (i.e mosque functions) fixtures cannot be played on a Sunday evening, an appropriate alternativewill be arrange and members informed.

THE LEAGUE/s EXPLAINED Cost Only Members of the Masoomin Sports Club can participate in the Football League. Each Team must pay £10.00 per fixture. The Captains have been given the responsibility to decide how to charge each player in their squad (i.e fringe players can be charged less for playing less minutes) Captains also have the responsibility of collecting the relevant monies from their squad and to pay the £10.00 to the designated MFLA member TEN MINUTES PRIOR TO KICK OFF If any player has genuine difficulty in meeting this cost please do not hesitate to approach any member of the MFLA board in confidence. The MFLA would like to give the opportunity to all to participate regardless of personal circumstance.
THE LEAGUE/s EXPLAINED Transport The MFLA will provide transport from Mehfil-e-Abbas to Powerleague at 6.30pm every Sunday. Those wishing to make use of this service must inform the MFLA via email to firstname.lastname@example.org , subject – Transport. The MFLA would appreciate drivers to volunteer to help provide this service.
THE LEAGUE/s EXPLAINED Match Times 24 minutes ( 12 minutes per Half ) Rules
Standard 5 a-side Rules
Ball Must be kept below head height – tallest player on the pitch.
If the ball goes over head height after striking the goalkeeper, post or cross bar, the ball is still in play.
No headers allowed
Outfield Players are NOT allowed in the Goalkeeper area.
Goalkeepers must roll the ball out under arm and must remain within the Goalkeeper Area.
Players with possession in the corner of the pitch must be given 5 seconds of no pressure to get out.
NO SLIDING AT ALL – tackling or interception.
The ball must touch two players before being passed back to the goalkeeper
THE LEAGUE/s EXPLAINED DISCIPLINE – REFEREE’S DECISION IS FINAL! CARDS Yellow Card – 5 minutes Sin Bin Red Card – Sent Off BANS Red Card (resulting from 2 yellow cards) = 1 Match Ban minimum Straight Red Card = 3 Match Ban minimum The MFLA BOARD WILL REVIEW INDIVIDUAL CASES WHERE PLAYERS HAVE BEEN SENT OFF AND MAY ISSUE FURTHER PUNISHMENT IF DEEMED NECESSARY. SWEARING WILL NOT BE TOLERATED! THE MFLA WOULD LIKE TO REMIND PLAYERS THAT WE ARE A SPORTS CLUB UNDER THE BANNER OF A MUSLIM SHIA ORGANISATION AND SHOULD ACT ACCORDINGLY IN BOTH OUR VERBAL AND PHYSICAL BEHAVIOUR. NO SWEARING, VIOLENCE OR OFFENSIVE BEHAVIOUR WILL BE TOLERATED!
THE MASOOMIN METRO The MASOOMIN METRO is the OFFICIAL e-paper of the Masoomin Football League/s. Published weekly readers will find the Latest News and press releases by the MFLA board, along with a review of the last round of fixtures and a look ahead to upcoming fixtures. MEDIA ! The press from the MASOOMIN METRO and other local journalists will be present at league fixtures. Captains and player may be asked to give pre/post match interviews either to journalists or TV presenters. All matches will be recorded, players are STRONGLY ENCOURAGED TO CELEBRATE THEIR GOALS IN FROM OF THE CAMERA , note- emulate more of a Nani/LuaLua celebration as apose to a recent Wayne Rooney celebration please. Removal of shirts in celebration will be punished by a yellow card.
KITS ! The MASOOMIN FOOTBALL LEAGUE ASSOCIATION would like to thank all sponsors for donating towards kits of the NEW MASOOMIN FOOTBALL LEAGUES Please Note – Each played will be given a kit ( excluding Goalkeepers) Players MUST wear the kit to every fixture. If the kit is not work by a team member, that member cannot participate in the fixture. The kit is the property of the MFLA and is loaned to members free of charge for the season providing the kit is return at the season. LOST OR DAMAGED KITS WILL INCUR A CHARGE PAYABLE BY THE INDIVIDUAL OF £15.00 Thus it is probably a good idea not to swap shirts at the end of a match !
IMPORTANT MESSAGE The MASOOMIN FOOTBALL LEAGUE ASSOCIATION would like to urge all players to maintain a competitive yet disciplined manner. The 2 tier league system has been created to maintain competitiveness however the league is also designed for all to ENJOY football in an organised manner. Please maintain discipline at all times. Ill disciplined will strictly not be tolerated by The MFLA. Remember, although obvious, for one team to win, ONE TEAM MUST LOSE. There is lots to play for during the season – league champions, qualification , promotion, relegation ( avoiding) and The MFLA CUP.
IMPORTANT MESSAGE PARTICIPATION /COMMITMENT ALOT OF TIME, WORK AND EFFORT HAS GONE INTO SETTING UP THE NEW FOOTBALL LEAGUE ON THIS SCALE, AS WELL AS ALOT OF SPONSORSHIP/DONOR MONIES. THIS LEAGUE WILL ONLY BE A SUCCESS IF YOU THE PLAYERS MAINTAIN COMMITED AND PARTICIPATE THROUGHOUT THE SEASON. TEAMS ! The MASOOMIN FOOTBALL LEAGUE ASSOCIATION has been overwhelmed by the interest and number of registrations to the new league. A Total of 90 Registrants has led to the formation of 12 teams The MFLA board worked along side selected captains to form what they feel are equally balanced teams based on ability. The MFLA has the right to transfer players at its discretion throughout the season. Players are urged to be patient if their team endures a poor start to the season as it will take time for teams to grow and adapt to individual playing styles. The MFLA would like to thank Captains for taking on the responsibility and urge all players to respect their team Captains.
