  • 1. How developed is Brazil? The aim of today’s lesson is to learn what ‘developed’ means, and how we measure development. Then we will look at some data to decide how developed Brazil is.
  • 2. 1. Is the country in which the following photo was taken developed or not? What is your evidence that it is a developed country / it is not a developed country?
  • 3. 2. What is your evidence that it is a developed country / it is not a developed country?
  • 4. 3. What is a highly developed country likely to have………..
  • 5. Did you get the following?
  • 6. Or any of these?
  • 7. 4. So what is a developed country?
    • In pairs try to note down a definition.
  • 8. A developed country
    • Is a country which has good public services and a high standard of living.
  • 9. 5. But what actually does the term development mean?
    • Watch the video clip ‘The 4 Yorkshire men’ and think about it a little more. Then complete the following brainstorm.
