    5. 5. <ul><li>They don’t replicate what happens in the “real world” of science. </li></ul>
    6. 6. <ul><li>Generate less paper. </li></ul><ul><li>Result in fewer reports to grade. </li></ul>But . . . . . .
    7. 7. <ul><li>Make it difficult to know how much each student contributed to the product. </li></ul><ul><li>Students have to coordinate getting together to work. </li></ul>

LAB REPORTS WRITTEN ON A WIKI: <ul><li>Allow asynchronous collaboration. </li></ul><ul><li>Result in fewer reports to grade. </li></ul><ul><li>Allow for timely feedback during the writing process. </li></ul><ul><li>Have a history log that allows teachers to verify individual student contributions. </li></ul>

OTHER BENEFITS: <ul><li>Students will become digitally literate. </li></ul><ul><li>They will learn a skill that can benefit them in other areas of their academic life beyond the science class. </li></ul><ul><li>Much of the work in science and business is now done collaboratively in this way. </li></ul>
