  • This next slide shows Avaya’s end-to-end Networking capabilities, and we are one of only two or three vendors that can really cover this with their own solutions. Avaya ‘s main target markets for Networking are Enterprise, Government and the Public Sector. We do particularly well in mid-size and larger organisations, and can also fit in the SME space as well. The only market we do not attempt to address is SMB where enterprise features such as network management and software developments are not required. Typically Avaya provides solutions for small to large campuses, data centres, branch offices and the flexible worker who requires secure remote access from wherever he or she chooses to work. These Networking solutions are formed of products from five key functional groupings: Ethernet Switching is the most important of these from both a market size and revenue point of view, and this is also reflected in our networking heritage that we will take a look at shortly. We offer a competitive range of platforms from 10/100 stackable switches right up to large modular platforms such as the VSP 9000 for very high performance and high capacity data centre and core network deployments. Ethernet Switching is closely followed by Wireless Networking, an area that is becoming increasingly important as WLANs are starting to replace wired network ports with the rapid growth of wireless devices such as BYODs. The latest Wireless LAN 802.11n technology standard gives huge performance benefits and Avaya is the first vendor to integrate WLAN into the wired network, allowing for higher performance, scalability and efficiency. The BYOD trend will require massive scalability in Wireless LAN, as will the growth in Video, and we believe that Avaya solutions are well positioned for this. The third area is the Unified Branch, comprising solutions that address the networking requirements of the enterprise branch office, including SIP survivable gateway functionality in addition to the standard requirements of WAN routing, firewalling and VPN in a single box. Access Control is an increasingly important overlay requirement for our customers, enforcing consistent network access control polices for users and devices across the LAN, Wireless LAN and Virtual Private Network or VPN. The fifth grouping is Network Management. Our network management solutions allow Avaya customers to get a single dashboard view of their network, and will in future evolve to cover all other Avaya solutions as well. Avaya Networking management has already converged onto a single platform offering synergies and management simplification for our customers. Additionally Avaya Network Management now provides interworking with the virtualised application area (namely VMware) and gives a network configuration view of both the network as well as insight into the applications on the server. We believe that this is a differentiator for us, and allows the network to be properly configured to match the virtual server and applications environment. All these solutions fit under the Avaya Virtual Enterprise Network Architecture, or VENA, the Avaya Networking framework, and we will come back to VENA in a little while.
  • Now moving into each of the models within the ERS 4000 Series family. We have seven models that provide Fast Ethernet connectivity. We have the ERS 4526 which comes in 4 variants depending on whether the customer wants 24 ports of 100 BaseX or 100 BaseT connectivity and then either non powered or powered with POE or powered with POE+ with the ERS 4526T-PWR+.The ERS 4550 is the other Fast Ethernet product family and it offers 48 ports of 10/100 BaseT connectivity in non powered, POE and POE/POE+ variants. Like the ERS 4526T-PWR+, the 4550T-PWR+ was introduced in December of 2011.
  • For Gigabit Ethernet connectivity we offer 4500 series products as well as the new 4800 series products. Starting with the 4500 series, we offer both the ERS 4524 and the ERS 4526 products – these all offer 24 ports of 10/100/1000 BASE-T with four shared SFP ports - with the 4526 products featuring two 10 Gig uplinks. The 4548 products support 48 ports of 10/100/1000 BASE-T connectivity with four shared SFP ports.
  • The new ERS 4800 series products offer four new models – we have the 4826 which offers 24 ports of 10/100/1000Base-T with and without POE and POE+ and the 4850 which offers 48 ports of 10/100/1000Base-T with and without POE and POE+. Uplink ports on all units provide 2 x 1/10Gig SFP+ ports (not shared) and two shared 10/100/1000/SFP ports.
  • There are four switch options within the ERS 2500 series. The ERS 2526 which offer 24 x 10/100 ports plus two combo 10/100/1000Base-T SFP ports and the ERS 2550 which offers 48 10/100 ports plus two combo ports. The POE versions of these models offers power over Ethernet support on half of the ports. These products can either be ordered standalone or with stacking enabled. From a stacking bandwidth capacity they can scale up to 32 Gbps in a stack of eight units.
