You may also read the accompanying news story, but since this course is focusing on improving your speaking and listening ability, you should make an effort to listen or watch the news. <br />Here are some acceptable sources for the news:<br /><ul><li>Voice of America (English) (online: voanews.com)

CBS News (TV or online: www.cbsnews.com)</li></ul>What and When:<br />Once a week, on _________ you will be required to create part of a brief news report that will be recorded and played in class. Each week you will be assigned a different subject to report on (International, US, Sports, Weather, Business, Technology, Science, or Health).<br />Content: <br />For this report you should choose one story that got your attention and inform the class about what happened. Make sure that you answer these questions in your report: Who? What? Where? When? Why? How?<br />Length: <br />Your report should not be longer than 1-2 minutes.<br />Attire:<br />On the days that we film the news report, you should wear business casual attire (from the waist up at least). Observe the types of things reporters usually wear as a model.<br />Assessment:<br />You will be assessed by the instructor and your peers. You will also be asked to complete a self-assessment of each of your segments. <br />
