  • 1. U. S. Department of Homeland Security 500 C Street, SV Washington, DC 20472 AUG 28 2014 The Honorable Neil Abercrornbie Governor of Hawaii Honolulu, Hawaii 96813 Dear Governor Abercrombie: This is in response to your August 21, 2014, request for a major disaster declaration for the State of Hawaii as a result of Tropical Storm Iselle during the period of August 7-9, 2014. You specifically requested Individual Assistance for Hawaii County and Hazard Mitigation statewide. Based on our review of all of the information available, it has been determined that the damage from this event was not of such severity and magnitude as to be beyond the capabilities of the state, affected local governments, and voluntary agencies. Accordingly, we have determined that supplemental federal assistance is not necessary. Therefore, I must inform you that your request for a major disaster declaration is denied. This denial may be appealed within 30 days after the date of this letter. Any appeal pursuant to 44 CFR § 206.46, along with additional information justifying the appeal, should be submitted to the President through Karen Arrnes, Acting Regional Administrator, FEMA Region IX, located at: 1111 Broadway, Suite 1200 Oakland, California 94607-4052 Sincerely, W. Craig Fug Administrator WWV. fBl'l'l a. gov
