  • 2 nd Honor Ride Duluth Police Department
  • Mission Statement:
    • The Honor Ride honors an individual (or group of individuals) from the Special Operations Community who, through their actions, has displayed great sacrifice, patriotism or courage in carrying out their duties to the nation and their fellow warriors
  • 2 nd Honor Ride in memory of Lieutenant Michael P. Murphy United States Navy (SEAL) Medial of Honor recipient May 7, 1976 - June 28, 2005 Operation Red Wing –Afghanistan “ Lone Survivor” - book
  • Honor Ride Team L-R: CPO Tim Puecker-Seal, Lt Bill Stevens, MPO Randy Samuel, MPO Liz Strickland-Duluth Police
  • Little Creek, VA – Sept 5, 2008 Naval Special Warfare Group 2- CDR Lenway places first streamer on Honor Ride guidon as the ride kicks off from the East Coast HQ for Naval Special Warfare
  • Day 1 – HR Team departs NSWG 2 Due to tropical storm Hanna’s path ceremonial rides took place at Little Creek, VA & Ft Bragg, NC
  • U.S. Army Special Operations Command, Ft Bragg, NC Honor Ride Team is joined by Thomas Brew/USASOC & Chief Foster/Cleveland Police (GA) as COL Milani/USASOC places streamer on guidon. Tropical Storm Hanna greeted the Team in Fayetteville, NC
  • Gwinnett Arena – Sept 8, 2008 Gwinnett Police led multi-agency escort for HR Team
  • Honor Ride Team departs Arena Chief Puecker heads out for first leg to State Capitol – 32 miles away
  • Atlanta Police join first leg Sgt Woody and Major Moss- Atlanta Police Department head out from Arena with Honor Ride Team
  • GA State Troopers add GSP streamer
  • Atlanta Police Streamer Sgt Woody & Major Moss place APD stream to guidon after completing the 32 mile ride from the Gwinnett Arena
  • Atlanta to Columbus leg MPO Randy Samuel – Duluth Police bikes toward Ft Benning, GA home of the 75 th Ranger Regiment
  • Ranger Memorial, Ft Benning
  • Ranger streamer added to guidon Sgt Joe Kapa, 2007 SOF Runner & OOV bike recipient place Ranger stream onto guidon.
  • Dawson Police Chief Whitehead City of Dawson Police, one of many Law Enforcement Agencies that provided escort support to the HR cyclists
  • September 9, 2008 – Tallahassee, FL Tallahassee Police came out in force with cyclists and escort support as the expanded team covered 18 miles
  • September 11, 2008 – 44 miles to go Rangers and Special Forces soldiers join the Honor Ride Team for the final 44 miles on the Suncoast Pkwy Trail
  • 9/11 – 22 miles remaining
  • Suncoast Trail end Count down to the final leg – 1 mile ride at MacDill AFB for the expanded Honor Ride Team
  • MacDill AFB the final mile!
  • Mission Accomplished ADM Olson presents Lt Stevens the flag which flew over United States Special Operations Command on September 11, 2008
