You met lots of great people at great networking events with lots of great conversa- tions. Be sure to follow-up with your new industry contacts when you get home! Maximize the value of future events you attend by Jotting down what you learned after attending learning labs, breakout sessions, getting certified, and networking. Put those business cards to use and meet your colleagues. You never know who you might meet! Connect with new contacts on LinkedIn, find out what conference attendees are saying on Twitter, and position yourself as an industry expert by sharing your insights. Get the ultimate conference souvenir by walking away with a certification that can get you higher pay or a promotion. Every conference presents a unique opportunity. Some may be best for networking, while others are great for their breakout sessions. Avoid convention hall distractions by checking posted website schedules well in advance. Do your research and develop a schedule before you arrive. Even in this digital world, business cards are currency at conferences. Be sure the info on your card is current and includes your relevant social media profiles. Easier said than done, but unplug from e-mail and voicemail the best you can and focus on the conference. That great idea you heard in the breakout session? It’s going to slip your mind the second you leave the room. Write it down! Learn valuable skills from included on-site classrooms and live lab experiences, and convince your boss to send you back next year.
