  11. 11. The Committee makes the preparations for the training. CJ/CCoE & NAMI Ohio helps.
  12. 12. The training is held. Twenty-five peace officers graduate.
  13. 13. CIT trained peace officers in Buckeye County are now able to recognize when someone is experiencing a mental health crisis and act accordingly.
  14. 14. Bob becomes the CIT Coordinator for Buckeye County. He ensures that training programs are offered regularly to peace officers throughout the County. Hi Betsy, this is Bob, we’re having a CIT Training at the end of the month. Can NAMI Ohio supply the pins?

Ohio Core Elements of a CIT Program <ul><li>Follows the Core Elements of CIT International guidelines </li></ul><ul><li>With the exception….. </li></ul><ul><li>Ohio does have a Rural CIT Model </li></ul><ul><li>This model still requires adherence to the core elements, but accepts less than 40-hours training due to the lack of places to conduct field trips to and smaller sized classes. </li></ul>

  26. 26. Keeping Track of CIT Progress in each County <ul><li>The CJ/CCoE (Criminal Justice Coordinating Center of Excellence) collects and distributes this data using standardized reporting forms </li></ul>
  27. 27. Latest National Honor <ul><li>The Council of State Governments has selected OHIO as one of 3 states to showcase in a document providing technical assistance to other states that may be looking to promote CIT! </li></ul>
