• Rationale After some on-going user research, weekly deliverables for each step of the design process, further defining the target audience, blueprint and prototype it was clear that creating a tv show and interactive feature for a family was not feasible for a cooking program which is not commonly viewed by a family and designing an interface for this target audience seemed impossible. Following this realisation at the beginning of the design process, all components for this design project have been revised to fit with the actual final design project submitted. The cooking programs across Austar deserved to have its own interactive TV feature with information and program enhancements dedicated to the channel and cooking shows for adults. The proposed iCook iTV enhancement is aimed at existing subscription television viewers who watch cooking programs across The Lifestyle Channel and The LifeStyle FOOD channel. The iCook enhancement will still maintain the original goal of encouraging eating healthy foods and adults to play an integral role in educating their teenagers to be come cooking enthusiast. To reach younger kids, an iCook with kids would be an extension to this concept to be featured on the Nick Jnr show which will be accessible through the main iCook interactive menu. These channels and shows were selected based on their positioning and natural fit to the original design framework. Proposed iTV Property: Family iTV cooking show T-Learning Cooking iTV enhancement iCook idea evolution + Original Framework to Project
• User Persona 1 & Scenarios Personal Profile Christine lives in Ballarat, is married and has a son (David) who is six. Her husband Mark is a English teacher at the local high school. Christine works part-time at the local dentist clinic as a receptionist. She chooses to work part-time so she can be there for her child as much as she can. Family is very important to Christine, she wants her child to get the best possible upbringing and opportunities they can have. So they can grow up and become responsible, independent young adults that can look after themselves. When Christine is not doing housework, she enjoys gardening, watching TV, cooking, reading magazines and talking on the phone to her mother and friends . “ I want to cook a variety of healthy and yummy meals for my family” 1. She finds it hard with the age difference and not growing up with technology, how to relate to her grandchildren. Cheryl admits to being a little techno phobic. She finds the Internet rather daunting but is familiar and comfortable with the TV. She joined AUSTAR recently after her son told her they were doing re-runs of the Golden Girls on TV1. Cheryl loves to cook, read, play golf, bridge and the occasional game of lawn bowls. She is very interested in watching lifestyle programs. Her major health concern is her cholesterol level. " I want to spend time with my grandchildren having fun in the kitchen baking some yummy treats." 3. • Inspiration for iCook for Kids
• A Recipe for success. Take a celebrity chef, add a spoonful of magic, a sprinkling of fun facts, bring to the boil and you've got a totally unique creative cooking adventure for kids.
• Planet Cook, the hit kids cooking adventure TV series, is set to launch worldwide in a bid to engage and encourage kids around the globe to have fun with cooking whilst learning more about healthy eating and balanced diets.
• This natural world adventure developed by Platinum Films for BBC is hosted by popular chef Kevin Woodford. The show will amaze and astound, surprise and delight. It's not about following a recipe, it's about inventing one.
• Set on a tropical fantasy island, each episode sees Captain Cook (Kevin Woodford), guide three young Cook Cadets as they create and invent fun food against the clock. Captain Cook provides the culinary skill but relies on Bouma (Dave Benson-Philips), who just happens to be a magical yeti, to add a sprinkling of his own unique magic.
• TV personality, Ruby Wax is the voice of super computer, Roxy, whose 'Info-Bites' form the creative themes of individual episodes. Planet Cook reaches Planet Earth at a crucial time for food. Recent concerns over children's and adult's lifestyle choices including food, drink, exercise and our general well being are now at the top of the national and international agenda.
• Each recipe in the show has been analysed by independent, qualified nutritionists to fit within the context of a balanced, healthy diet. The recipes are inspired by the natural world - from volcanoes to leaf-eating dinosaurs - giving Captain Cook the inspiration to create delicious dishes like 'Erupting Volcano Surprise' and 'Dinosaur Calzone'.
