09 Believing In The Son - Presentation Transcript

    1. BELIEVING IN THE SON OF GOD
      Lesson 9
    2. BELIEVING IN JESUS
Believing in the Son involves such a strong belief that He becomes what his name means for us: Saviour, Lord, Anointed, and our King.
It means that Jesus dwells in our hearts as an honoured guest.
    3. THOSE WHO BELIEVE IN JESUS ARE BORN OF GOD
When we believe in Jesus, there is a change in our life.
Through the work of the Holy Spirit we give up our old life and we are born for a new life.
We are Sons of God now.
    4. Loves God who begot (1 John, 5: 1)
Loves his brothers, who are begotten of God (1 John, 5: 1)
      Keeps His commandments (1 John, 5: 2-3)
      Overcomes the world (1 John, 5: 4)
When a believer is born of God, he:
THOSE WHO BELIEVE IN JESUS ARE BORN OF GOD
    5. The enemy we must defeat is spiritual, “for our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms” (Ephesians, 6: 12)
EL QUE CREE EN JESÚS VENCE AL MUNDO
But our victory is assured: “You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world”
      (1 John, 4: 4)
    6. THOSE WHO BELIEVE IN JESUS OVERCOME THE WORLD
      Howtoachievevictory:
    7. THOSE WHO BELIEVE IN JESUS OVERCOME THE WORLD
      The victors will obtain reward:
“To him who overcomes, I will give the right to eat from the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God”(Revelation, 2: 7)
“He who overcomes will not be hurt at all by the second death” (Revelation, 2: 11)
“To him who overcomes, I will give some of the hidden manna. I will also give him a white stone with a new name written on it, known only to him who receives it” (Revelation, 2: 17)
“To him who overcomes and does my will to the end, I will give authority over the nations--`He will rule them with an iron sceptre; he will dash them to pieces like pottery'-- just as I have received authority from my Father. I will also give him the morning star” (Revelation, 2: 26-28)
    8. THOSE WHO BELIEVE IN JESUS OVERCOME THE WORLD
      The victors will obtain reward:
“He who overcomes will, like them, be dressed in white. I will never blot out his name from the book of life, but will acknowledge his name before my Father and his angels” (Revelation, 3: 5)
“Him who overcomes I will make a pillar in the temple of my God. Never again will he leave it. I will write on him the name of my God and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which is coming down out of heaven from my God; and I will also write on him my new name” (Revelation, 3: 12)
“To him who overcomes, I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I overcame and sat down with my Father on his throne” (Revelation, 3: 21)
    9. THOSE WHO BELIEVE IN JESUS HAVE THE TESTIMONY
“And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life”
      Whatisthetestimony?
      1 John, 5: 11-12
    10. THOSE WHO BELIEVE IN JESUS HAVE THE TESTIMONY
How many witnesses must give the testimony?
According to Mosaic Law, one-witness testimony had no value-judgements. The testimony of two or three witnesses was necessary.
“One witness is not enough to convict a man accused of any crime or offence he may have committed. A matter must be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses” (Deuteronomy, 19: 15)
John tells us who these three witnesses are.
    11. THOSE WHO BELIEVE IN JESUS HAVE THE TESTIMONY
For there are three that testify, and the three are in agreement:
      THESPIRIT
      THEWATER
      AND THEBLOOD
      1 John, 5: 7-8
    12. “When the Counsellor comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father, he will testify about me” (John, 15: 26)
      THE SPIRIT
      THE WATER
      THE BLOOD
Through baptism, Jesus was anointed for his mission and He was publicly recognized by God as His beloved Son.
Through the expiatory act at the cross, the blood of Jesus provides us eternal life.
These three witnesses have a common purpose, testifying of Christ’s divinity, so men can believe in Him and be saved.
    13. The fourth witness:
“And you also must testify, for you have been with me from the beginning”
      John, 15: 27
Each one of us is a witness who must testify to Jesus, the only source of eternal life.
