• Luckily for homeowners, there is a way to tell where the most energy is being used and where the problem areas are. Home Energy Audits’ are becoming very popular and in some states mandatory when a home is bought or sold.
  • A Green Home

    1. 1. A GREEN HOME Presented By: Longhorn Solar Screens and Energy Efficiency Facilitator: Christy Spigner
    2. 2. ENERGY EFFICIENCY

Efficient energy use ,

Sometimes simply called

ENERGY EFFICIENCY ,

is the goal of efforts to reduce the amount of energy required to provide products and services.

    3. 4. Conserving Energy

Energy conservation refers to efforts made to reduce energy consumption.

Energy conservation can be achieved through increased efficient energy use, in conjunction with decreased energy consumption .

    4. 5. Why is it Important?

Conserving energy is important because it helps safeguard the environment and its resources. Conserving energy can even help you save money .

Energy sources are very limited. We consume energy so rapidly. With this high rate they will decay one day. So we need to conserve the energy

An awareness of energy conservation facts is the first step to making a positive impact.

We need to save energy to prevent our earth from ending due to global warming. We are heating up this planet with so much excessive and wasted energy, that it is ruining our ATMOSPHERE.

    5. 6. Where are you using the most energy In Your Home?
    6. 8. Solar screens

Solar Screens are the most economical and quickest way to save energy in your home to lower your utility bill.

They block the heat before it reaches your windows, making it more comfortable in your home.

When you lower the amount of heat entering your home, you will help prolong the life of your air conditioner.

Solar Screens not only work in the summer, but will also act like a blanket in the colder months.

    7. 15. INSULATION InsulSafe SP is a fiber glass blowing insulation used in residential and commercial construction as a thermal and sound absorbing insulation. It is designed for pneumatic installation in open (attic) and closed (sidewalls/floor) construction cavities. It may be used in retrofit applications.
    8. 18. PRODUCT BENEFITS

Better coverage

Thermally efficient

Dust Free

Won’t settle

Lasts for life of the home to reduce energy demand and costs

Environmentally sustainable

Non-Combustible

Non-Allergenic

Non-Irritating

Non-Corrosive

Won’t rot or decay

Won’t absorb moisture or support fungus growth

Lifetime warranty

    9. 20. ATTIC VENTILATION One of the keys to keeping your home cool during the summer is making sure there's proper ventilation in the attic. Temperatures there can climb to sweltering heights and make the rest of the house tougher to regulate. Attic ventilation also helps keep the air circulating in the attic which will extend the life of the roof because it keeps the heat from building up behind the shingles.
    10. 27. RADIANT BARRIER Radiant Barriers or reflective barriers work by reducing heat transfer by thermal radiation. Per the department of Energy (DOE), a product classified as a ?radiant barrier? must have a high reflectance of 90% or more and a low emittance of 10% or less. If I does not reflect at least 90%of the radiant heat, it can not be called a radiant barrier?
    11. 30. ENERGY EFFICIENCY

Efficient energy use ,

Sometimes simply called

ENERGY EFFICIENCY ,

is the goal of efforts to reduce the amount of energy required to provide products and services.
