He discovers that he has killed a butterfly. The consequences are that the future is changed in several ways: 1. The sign advertising the time safari is different. Gathering 2. A different president has been elected, one that most people did not originally approve of. 3. Eckels is shot by Mr Travis who is angry with him and the changes that have occurred.
