* We’ve grown exponentially in just a few years (from 60 employees in 2005 to nearly 1000 today, but we still value that close-knit, collaborative “kitchen table” environment that has characterized HomeAway since the beginning.
*Additional recycling notes: recycling bins at every desk and in all break rooms *K-cup recycling program through the Grounds to Grow On program, which uses energy-from-waste technologies to transform used k-cups to compost and energy. HomeAway is proud to be the first partner in the South-Central region of the United States to pilot this program.
*Additional notes: travel- themed décor with postcards, key chains, shot glasses and our famous snow globe collection (1200+snowglobes), and a two-story birdhouse which we love to decorate for seasonal holidays.
*Our downtown HQ office was projected to serve the needs of our Austin employees for almost ten years – instead, our hiring needs outstripped our office space after less than two years at 5 th and Lamar. We even had employees setting up shop in common areas like our game room (which in retrospect might have been more of a brilliant strategic move to work proximally to the xBox 360 than anything else). *All of our Austin satellite offices have been constructed with the same focus on sustainability that we used to construct our global headquarters.

*Sales increased about 130% after we further reduced prices (from about 9/month to 21/month) *Mass transit wiki page includes maps indicating Cap Metro’s operating area, information on our discounted transit pass program, and user guides on helpful apps such as Google Transit, Transit Times, and DadNab.
*When surveying potential new office locations, one of the things we keep in mind is whether or not the site in question is well-served by mass transit infrastructure.
*HomeAway was awarded a Bicycle Friendly Business designation last year – one of the three Austin businesses to be recognized by the League of American Bicyclists. One of the others was actually the City of Austin, so we’re in good company. *Bike lockers are one of our most popular commodities – there’s always a waiting list. All currently in use at HQ; almost all are in use at Penn Field after only a few weeks of the office being open and the available space being filled to half capacity.
