  3. 3. 1 st stop: Malay Heritage Centre Enter from sultan gate or from the side entrance at Kandahar Street Museum – 1pm to 6pm (Mon), 10am to 6pm (Tue to Sun), last admission at 5.30pm, SGD 3 for adults, SGD 2 for children (7-12 years old), free for children under the age of 7 Istana Grounds – 8am to 9pm (Daily), admission free Cultural Show – 11.30am to 12.15pm (sun), 3.30pm to 4.15pm (wed), SGD 3 for adults, SGD 2 for children, SGD 5 for senior citizen (60 years and above)
  4. 4. The Istana Kampong Gelam was completed 162 years ago by Sultan Ali, son of Sultan Hussein Shah. It was built from bricks and materials imported from around the region. Its 9 galleries showcase the roots, history, successes, aspirations and role of the Singapore Malays towards nation-building.
  5. 5. 2 nd stop: Kandahar Street Shophouses The shophouses were accorded conservation status and were lovingly restored, lending an air of old-world charm to the area. The intricate details are a colourful mix of influences from European, Malay, Chinese and Indian architectural designs on the façade.
  6. 6. 3 RD stop : Sultan Mosque <ul><li>Tourist visiting hours: 9am – 1pm & 2pm – 4pm </li></ul><ul><li>( Mon-Thurs, Weekends) </li></ul><ul><li>2.30pm – 4pm(Fri) </li></ul><ul><li>Admission: Free </li></ul><ul><li>1 st built in 1824 (wooden) </li></ul><ul><li>Sultan was once the ruler of Singapore. </li></ul><ul><li>He constructed the mosque next to his palace. </li></ul><ul><li>Rebuilt in 1945 </li></ul><ul><li>Simple rules </li></ul><ul><li>Visitors are not allowed to walk on the carpeted areas. </li></ul><ul><li>Remove shoes before entering. </li></ul>

  12. 12. 5 th stop: Kazura Fragrances and Essential Oils <ul><li>Exquisite hand-painted glass bottle with unique fragrance </li></ul><ul><li>100ml of perfume – SGD 12 </li></ul><ul><li>Essential oils and bottle – range from SGD 10 to SGD 300 (depending on the selection) </li></ul><ul><li>Use ‘smell neutraliser’ (coffee) to clear the smell from the nose </li></ul><ul><li>Essential perfume oils are called attar </li></ul>
