    • Does mainstream film objectify females and demonstrate partriarchal ideologies?
    • Research Investigation Your essay must ;Not make a statement which is not evidenced or backed up by a source. Sources can be; Primary and/or secondary research. “My chosen text Sin City objectifies females characters throughout. This is an example of how mainstream film often projects patriarchal ideologies.”
    • Research Investigation Your essay must ; Not make a statement which is not evidenced or backed up by a source. Sources can be; Primary and/or secondary research. “My chosen text Sin City objectifies females characters throughout” The audience is forced into the male gaze throughout the narrative. One particular sequence, when the character Nancy dances on the bar, highlights the typical female representation within the text. The camera shots chosen fragment Nancy’s identity into objects of male desire. Furthermore the post production process puts this sequence into slow motion to give more time for scopophilia and forces the audience to be voyeuristic and objectify the female character. This sequence is one of many examples where technical conventions assist in the constructed representations of females which project patriarchal ideologies.
    • Does mainstream Hollywood film represent the middle class with stereotypical ideals? Secondary research – Mark Kermode review
    • Research Investigation Your essay must ;Not make a statement which is not evidenced or backed up by a source. Sources can be; Primary and/or secondary research. My chosen text Sex in the city 2 is clearly set within a hyperreality. The narrative continually represents characters spending great deals of money, living high class and extravagant lifestyles. Critically, the narrative does not spend time showing the characters earning money and often represents a hugely superficial and egotistical ideology, stereotypical of the upper middle class. This is discussed by the film critical Mark Kermode when he discusses the moment in the narrative where protagonist Carrie is having a conversation with a hotel waiter and he states due to his poor pay, and lack of opportunities where his family live, he cannot afford the air fare to see his wife. Carrie, who is currently paying $22000 a night to stay in the hotel does not realise the class divide and the “ghastly amount of wealth she lives with has a consequence, other people have less money”(3) She compares the waiters situation, with the fact she is on holiday away from her husband as the same scenario.
    • Research Investigation To add further value to this you could discuss if the technical conventions in this particular scene try to make the audience empathise with and take on Carrie’s warped perspective and ideology.
