  1. 1. Literature of Spain, Latin, Central, and South America PowerPoint By: Kimberly Millner
  2. 2. Bridges.The bridge.Unity/ connection.
  3. 3. This quote is a form of a “From one bank to another, there linkage, a way of reaching is always a body stretched: a out, reaching across, and rainbow. Ill sleep beneath its connecting himself to the arches.” world. Also giving us a description of how he sees the world connected. This qoute indicates that we are  “Entering itall connected one way oranother. And the author likes it you enter yourself:because he says hell sleep the world connectsunder its arches. This quote is and closes like a ring.”important because it shows hispoint of view. Its shows how herreferrers to this place he callshome.Quotes.
  4. 4. Depression. Frustration.I am Joaquin.
  5. 5. In this quote Joaquin is making his choice between beingQuotes. physically hungry and being emotionally full. With all the things that’s going on in the world. I am Joaquin, lost in a world of confusion, caught up in the whirl of a gringo society,  I must choose between confused by the rules, the paradox of scorned by attitudes, victory of the spirit, suppressed by manipulation, despite physical hunger, and destroyed by modern society. or to exist in the graspThis quote shows Joaquins of American social neurosis, frustration with how he’s living. sterilization of the soulHe’s very confused about life and a full stomach.and modern society.
  6. 6. To Hear Mexican Ballads, Takethe D Train.
  7. 7. This quote is about the struggle these guys had to face. They were trying to get across the boarder.  “Our babies have to eat They could have died getting across. something; we have to eat something,”  There are three borders that I had to cross. By way of three countries I made my way undocumented. Three times I had to risk my life. The workday was in full swing. This quote is about they guys lifestyles of one of the guys who sings at the subway. This quote explains what he has to do to accommodate his needs and wants for him and his family.Quotes.
  8. 8.  The poems and the article taught me a lot. These are mostly all based off culture and life outlooks. You never know what people feel. Or what they do to get what they need. The things that we think arent so serous, or taken for granted people cherish because they don’t have it. In I am Joaquin he’s really frustrated and confused. Unlike the bridge it seems as if he’s satisfied with everything , most of us don’t think of life how he does. In to hear the Mexicans ballads, they struggled to get here. Unlike us we were born here. You just never know how things are until you have to go without them.Summary.
