  2. 2. Main source:  Historically, Asian immigrants came to America mostly for opportunities and better living conditions. Although job preferences for Asian Americans are stereotypically perceived as drug stores and laundry services, this ranking will demonstrate Asian American preferences for successful corporate jobs. Rationale & Criteria  All ten should be American companies. (for example, Ford, as opposed to Honda) whose name is familiar to average person.  The ranking considers factors such as the percentage of Asian Americans employees, proportionate number of managers, percentage of Asian Americans hired, and how well- known/influential the company is.
  3. 3.  One of the largest professional services firms in the world and one of the Big Four auditors.  Has a remarkable mentoring program which includes the Executive Mentoring Program that pairs high-potential minorities including Asian Americans with members of the firm’s Executive Board.  20% of the firms’ philanthropy goes to multicultural organizations including Acend, formerly the National Asian American Society of Accountants.
  4. 4. The holding corporation of the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company 1 Asian member as board of directors Some of the philanthropic donations go to Asian and Pacific Islander American Scholarship Fund.
  5. 5.  A multinational computer, technology and IT consulting corporation headquartered in New York, U.S.  1 out of 12 board directors is Asian American.  Chairman, CEO and President Sam Palmisano was co-chair of the 2008 Asian Leadership Summit.
  6. 6. CEO is Selino Lo(left), a Chinese American 1 out of 9 managers is Korean American(right). Ranked No. 1 in Telecommunications and in Top Asian-run Companies by Inc. – a business magazine based in NYC.
  7. 7.  Pharmaceuticals health care company  Chairman and CEO Miles D. White chairs the diversity council and appoints its members. He ties 30% of the bonuses of his 13 direct reports to diversity goals  14% of its U.S. work force are Asian Americans  17% of its new hires are Asian American.

  9. 9.  A global American pharmaceutical, medical devices and consumer packaged goods manufacturer founded in 1886.  One out of 11-member board of directors is Asian American.  11.6% of the work force are Asian Americans  11.7% of all managers are Asian Americans.
  10. 10.  The Largest technology company in the world, operating in nearly every country.  11% of its employees are Asian Americans  11.7% of its managers are Asian Americans.  The company has two strong Asian-American employee- resource groups: the HP Asian Pacific Employee Network (HAPEN) and the HP California India Association.
  11. 11.  An American diversified multinational corporation focused on the production, distribution and provision of household, health care, personal products, etc.  9.4% of U.S. managers are Asian Americans  11.1% of management promotions go to Asian Americans.
  12. 12.  A diversified global financial services company, best known for its credit card, charge card, traveler’s cheque businesses, etc.  Asian Americans are 10% of U.S. managers .  19% management promotions go to Asian Americans.  The Company has a strong Asian-American employee- resource group called Asian Network at Amex (ANA).
  13. 13. Through this analysis of Top 10 Companies for Asian Americans, it is important to note that the companies that hired relatively high portion of Asian Americans tended to value diversity through professional mentorship programs and philanthropic acts towards Asian American organizations. This top ten list demonstrates that most Asian American corporate job positions are centered in the areas of: pharmaceutical, financial and technological companies.
