We have concentrated our business activities in three market segments where there is a special demand for high quality camera technology capable of delivering first class images.   • The intention with this slide: To give the audience a perspective into why imaging technology is being used more and more in machine vision, traffic management and global security and to explain the typical applications where imaging technology can be of great help. Inspiration notes to the speaker: Digital camera technology is applied in numerous applications where imaging is used as an integrated part of a process, product or service. JAI’s cameras are used in a broad range of machine vision applications by manufacturing companies across industries. By using automated imaging technology in the manufacturing process, companies can optimize process efficiency by identifying and removing defective units during the production process. The objective is to improve the overall product quality of “end products” leading to more safe and reliable products, maintaining or increasing consumer’s satisfaction with the products they use. JAI’s cameras are also used in Intelligent Transportation Systems, where traffic authorities use camera technology to regulate traffic in cities with the purpose of protecting the environment, optimize road safety and to generate revenue from road users. JAI’s line of ruggedized cameras are used in a range of high-end global security applications with the aim of optimizing safety and security in cities, airports and along borders. Inspiration notes to the speaker: JAI’s cameras are used in demanding aerospace and global security applications worldwide. Selected for their high speed, high resolution, compactness and robust construction, these cameras have met the challenges of accuracy and reliability under the most demanding conditions. Examples of use are “border control”, “high-end surveillance” imaging in airports and geographical “situational awareness” using aero plane drones. JAI’s cameras are used as components of night vision devices, navigational systems and remotely piloted vehicles. The cameras are designed to meet one or more extended specifications, including resistance to vibration and shock and extended operating temperatures.   • The intention with this slide: The intention with this slide is to give the audience a basic understanding of JAI’s 3-CCD RGB camera technology (splitting the Red, Green and Blue light in separate channels via JAI’s advanced prism technolgy) and also to explain the added value this technology provides to our customers compared to standard single-imager color camera technology. The slides gives a short introduction to our 3-CCD RGB prism-based camera technology that is capable of simultaneously capturing the full resolution in the Red, Green and Blue spectral band through the same optical axis. This technology is capable of providing more precise color values and optimal edge sharpness especially of objects with many details. The technology is particularly useful for inspection of printed items such as bank notes, where the requirement for precision print is extremely high. The slide illustrates JAI’s 2CCD prims technology capable of simultaneous imaging of the visible light and near-infrared light spectrum. The unique concept of simultaneous capture of color and NIR images helps solve a wide variety of inspection tasks. Surface properties are visible in the color channel while the NIR channel detects just below the surface looking for e.g. early decay in fruit. In some cases, it is also possible to make simultaneous inspection of labels on packaging and the contents in the package below the label as shown in the image example on this slide.   • The intention with this slide: The intention with this slide is to give the audience a basic understanding of JAI’s 2-CCD High Dynamic Range camera technology. Inspiration notes to the speaker: JAI’s High Dynamic Range imaging technology is based on a unique prism-based 2CCD camera, incorporating two monochrome CCD sensors. The prism-based design enables a single optical path to be split across both CCDs simultaneously. By adjusting the shutter/gain settings of the two CCDs and fusing the two synchronized images, it is possible to get CCD images with a High Dynamic Range quality. The example shows that it is possible to see image details inside and outside the window after the image processing (image fusion) has been made. Typical HDR applications include inspection tasks where incident light or bright reflections are present, such as LED inspection, welding, and various types of lighting or glass inspections. The camera technology is also ideal for a wide range of automotive applications, microscopy, or high-end surveillance uses.
