  2. 2. Wii in PE<br />The Nintendo Wii includes technology and fitness. It is known to many students and allows for an easy and fun way to help all students learn new and different lifetime activities. <br />

Positives for Using the Wii <br />Video attraction makes things more exciting for students.<br />Students learn without realizing they are developing cognitive skills.<br />Students physical conditioning increases and proper form is developed for various activites. <br />The weather will not be a factor for students to get exercise.<br />
  4. 4. Negatives for Using the Wii<br />Difficult for larger class sizes.<br />Can be costly.<br />Some people unwilling to embrace the technology will feel as though the students are simply “playing video games.”<br />

Positives of Video Use<br />Allows for instant feedback and results for students and teachers.<br />Provides a developmental platform over a period of time with a visual distinctions that allow the teacher and student to analyze strengths and weaknesses.<br />Many students at the elementary level would love to watch themselves in a video format.<br />

Negatives of Video Use<br />Video process can breakdown with file conversions that could fail.<br />The videographer must be able to use the equipment correctly and carefully. <br />The teacher must make sure that the student being filmed is legally allowed to be filmed. <br />Sharing files with students can be difficult without proper equipment and funding for technology.<br />

Positives of iPhone Apps in Elementary PE<br />Students are able to use technology at a current and evolving level.<br />Real time feedback on performance.<br />Students learn that they can choose from a wide variety of activities to exercise and learn from the app making the appropriate measurements.<br />The app can apply to the home setting also, which should be an ultimate goal of the PE program. <br />

Negatives of iPhone Apps in Elementary PE<br />Unrealistic to think children at that age will be allowed to have that type of technology.<br />The cost could be tremendous to the program attempting to put this to use.<br />The durability of the product could be in danger due to the age of the user. <br />Some parents would not be able to help with the app use at home, due to their personal situations. <br />

Summary of Technology Use in Elementary PE<br />The types of technology that could be available are many.<br />There are some possible negatives that could arise from technologies being used in this setting.<br />The number of positive possibilities are greater than any negatives that might arise.<br />Embrace the positives and negatives of technology use in elementary PE for the benefit of the students learning and health.<br />
