It is impossible to imagine life today without social media. The increasing success of the smart phones confirms that Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+, etc. are a part of our lives, just like working and eating. The media landscape has changed and the balance of power over content has shifted from the companies to the consumers. However, Governments are still searching when it comes to social media. Several small initiatives are being taken: spokespersons take to Twitter, a Facebook page on tax-on-web was created and recently a booklet for civil servants was published with guidelines and recommendations regarding social media. But do social media not offer more opportunities for Governments? Are Governments lagging behind and missing the boat? A qualitative survey will help to examine what role social networks can play for Governments and what consequences this will hav
