    • Migration From Mexico to USA Chelsea Warner
    • The border The border between Mexico and USA has the total length of 3,169 km (1,969 miles). It is the most frequently crossed border in the world with around 250 million legal crossings every year and many more illegal crossings.
    • Why do Mexicans want to migrate to USA?
      • Lack of jobs or job opportunities.
      • Poor quality of life and living conditions.
      • Climatic hazard e.g. drought leading to crop failure.
      • Poor levels of pay when they do have jobs.
      • Poor health and education services.
      Push factors Pull factors
      • Job opportunities - Chance to earn more money to help support the family.
      • Better quality of life.
      • Better health and education services
    • Mexico Advantages Disadvantages
      • Lose young healthy workers that go and work in USA.
      • Lose people with more skills and more able bodied
      • Families are broken up due to people moving away (mainly men) meaning that families find it harder to cope with financial issues.
      • Population decreases as people are moving to USA meaning there is less demand for resources.
    • USA Advantages Disadvantages
      • Employees can employ Mexicans to work for small wages.
      • More workers to do jobs that Americans don’t want to do such as maids.
      • Culture mixing means that places such as taco bell are opened and also musical influences such as Jennifer Lopez.
      • Population increase means that the demand for resources will be greater.
      • Americans feel that the Mexicans are taking their jobs.
