Training For A Disciplined Life

 1. 1. Training for a Disciplined Life
 2. 2. 1Ti 4:8

For physical training is of some value, but godliness (a disciplined life in God) has value for all things , holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.

 3. 3. Heb 5:14

14 But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use ( by reason of use )have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil. (have their senses exercised to discern… NKJ)

 4. 4. 1 Co 9:24

Run in such a way as to get the prize . 25 Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training . They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. 26 Therefore I do not run like a man running aimlessly; I do not fight like a man beating the air. 27 No, I beat my body and make it my slave…

 5. 5. Luke 6:40

… everyone who is fully trained will be like his teacher.

 6. 6. Heb 12:1

… .let us lay aside every weight , and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith…

3 For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary and discouraged in your souls. 4 You have not yet resisted to bloodshed, striving against sin .

 7. 7. Gal 5:7

You were running a good race . Who cut in on you and kept you from obeying the truth? 8 That kind of persuasion does not come from the one who calls you. 9 "A little yeast works through the whole batch of dough."

 8. 8. Titus 2:1

For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men. 12 It teaches us to say "No" to ungodliness and worldly passions , and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age

 9. 9. Ro 8:5

Those who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on what that nature desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires . 8:6 For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace

 10. 10. Gal 5:16

So I say, live by the Spirit , and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature. 17 For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit , and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature. They are in conflict with each other, so that you do not do what you want. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit , you are not under law.

 11. 11. Gal 5:24

Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires. 25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.

 12. 12. Ro 8:13

For if you live according to the sinful nature, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live, 14 because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.

 13. 13. Gal 6:8

The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit , from the Spirit will reap eternal life. 9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

 14. 14. Heb 12:7

Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as sons. …. 10….but God disciplines us for our good , that we may share in his holiness. 11 No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it .

12 Therefore, strengthen your feeble arms and weak knees. 13 "Make level paths for your feet," so that the lame may not be disabled, but rather healed.

 15. 15. Titus 1:8

Rather he must be hospitable, one who loves what is good, who is self-controlled, upright, holy and disciplined . (possessing the inner strength to control one’s desires and actions ) 9 He must hold firmly to the trustworthy message as it has been taught, so that he can encourage others by sound doctrine and refute those who oppose it.

 16. 16. Eph 2:10

For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works , which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.
