This presentation is a step by step guide to help you access and set up your TURNITIN.com account so that you will be able to submit your English 101 papers.
We are going to begin with General Access and getting an account established as an APUS student.
First you will want to open your web browser and go to www.turnitin.com. Once you are at the page you will see two boxes on the upper left-handed side of the screen for entering in your login information. Before you can log in you will need to set up your account and this can be done by clicking on “Create account,” which is just to the right of these two boxes.
If you already have a student account set up you can go ahead and enter your email address and password. If you do not you will need to select “student” to set up a student account.
For the class information, enter the general course ID and password for APUS, so that you will have a general account that establishes you and an APUS student. (access information to my course in one of the next steps). The class ID and enrollment password have been provided in the Week 1 announcementon the course website.
Once you have entered in that information and set up an account you should see this screen. This is your home page. By default you are entered into a general student use account.
Do not use the “Student_Use_Account” to submit a paper, because it will cause your submission to the class to turn up as a 100% match. This could delay grading.
We will now discuss how to specifically access the English 101 classroom. This is where you will be submitting your papers for this course.
From the homepage you will want to click on the tab that is titled “Enroll in a course”
You have been provided with a course specific ID and password in the week 1 announcement. You will enter that information here.
Once you have entered that information you should see that the English 101 course has been added to your homepage. Something to keep in mind is you can always submit a paper more than once if you redraft prior to the due date. Do not be afraid to submit a paper to get a report as part of your drafting phase to ensure you are properly using your sources.
When you click on my course you should see a screen with the assignments for this course. You will click on submit and upload your paper here when you are ready to turn in your essay.
And that is it!Should you have any questions, concerns, or difficulties, please do not hesitate to contact me. I will be checking to ensure that everyone is registered for the course on TURNITIN.com over the next two weeks, and I will contact you if you are not registered.
