    9. Partnerships between private sector enterprises with NGOs playing an important role in facilitating deployment is the key to success
Small-scale and market-based water treatment solutions are the way toaddress the world’s drinking water issue
Technologies such as bicycles, lanterns, stoves, and radios have successfully reached people in the developing world
These factory produced technologies aremarketed by small-scale enterprises that sustain profits and diffuse technology costs
      Need for small-scale solutions

      Solution overview
    18. Pumps...
Where electricity is available, we deploy electric pumpsin existing and/or newly drilled, deep wells.
When electricity is not available, we deploy low-cost, Mark II, deep well hand pumps- the global standard in the developing world.
      Technologypartners:
      Water supply
    19. 10,000 liters
      Header Tank
This self-powered purificationplant produces 10,000 litersof clean drinking waterper day from polluted watersources including wells, rivers, and creeks
Schools can now have accessto safe, clean, drinking waterthrough a low-cost permanentsolution.

    20. Micro-filtration…
Housed within a protective canister through whichuntreated feed water enters
Bacteria, protozoa, viruses (pathogens), and othercontaminates greater than 0.1 micron are removedand crystal clean drinking water is produced
Filter not intended to be replaced but simply cleaned periodically using a manual cleaning procedure

      Water purification
    21. Clean water…
...is accessed via drinking fountains, hand wash faucets, and water taps to fill water containers.
Faucets are self-closing to conserve water and the system is gravity fed thus requiring no electricity.
