      • This refers not just to seeing things from the perspective of the people we communicate with
      • It also includes understanding their
        • Social
        • Cultural
        • Technological
        • Theological backgrounds
        • Other environmental factors
    11. The Apostle Paul
      • In Athens
How did these other factors allow Paul to witness to the Athenians? How did make the most of these?
    12. The Apostle Paul
      • In Athens
If Paul were alive today, and he chose to return to Athens and go back to Mars Hill and preach to the people there, would he be as effective?
    13. The Apostle Paul
      • Paul would be effective even today!
This is the power and beauty of his mindset. He could easily adapt his approach to the people he wanted to reach. Paul had a “ Ministry-Marketing Mindset .” It’s one that always begins with the background, perspective and needs of the people you want to reach.
    14. We Are Only Persuading Men as Paul Did, Master! You Can’t Market God! Marketing is Beneath the Dignity of the Message, my Son!
    15. Ahh..the Student has become the Master! Tonight. I walk the rice paper without tearing it! You Can’t Market God!
    16. Marketing?
      • Some people object to using the term “marketing”
        • What comes to most ministers minds when they hear the word “marketing”?
        • Why do they think that way?
    17. Marketing? Marketers persuade people about who, what, where, when and why to… To Buy To Believe! Ministers persuade people about who, what, where, when and why to…

      • Life Changing Decisions
        • Health Decisions
        • Political Action
        • Environment
      • Even Matters of Faith!
      Marketing is Communication Strategy
    19. Ministry Marketing?
      • A means for ministers to persuade people to believe in God.
      • And a ministry-marketing mindset is necessary to apply that persuasion effectively through communication.
    20. A Question
      • Imagine that your church is hosting a special event open to the community. What kinds of things would your church do to get the word out?
      • Every one of us has tried to persuade someone to come to an event, to get involved, or to believe in something.
      • We are all guilty of marketing .
    21. You are already a marketer! If you are using communication in any form in order to persuade others, you are a marketer!
    22. Effectiveness Crisis
      • Billions of dollars are spent each year to attract new people with little results.
      • Church membership and baptisms are down
      • 72 churches close their doors per week
      • Half of all churches didn’t add a single member last year
    23. Effectiveness Crisis There seems to be a disconnect between common marketing “activities” of churches and real results. I believe root of the problem is not having the right “ministry-marketing mindset.”
    24. Seven Surprisingly Simple Steps to a Ministry-Marketing Mindset
