Deliberate Practice

In Theory…
Wolfpack Season = 3 Hours X 3 Days X 11 Weeks X 6 Years = 594 Hours
7th and 8th Grade = 3 Hours X 6 Days X 9 Weeks X 2 Years = 324 Hours
9th – 12th Grade = 4 Hours X 6 Days X 11 Weeks X 4 Years = 1056 Hours
Freestyle = 2 Hours X 3 Days X 20 Weeks = 120 Hours Per Year

Our average wrestlers have had many more hours than most wrestlers elsewhere…

Tiger’s father gave him his first golf club which he used from a height chair at 18 months. He won his first tournament at age 22.

Tiger is known to shoot the same exact shot over 300 times simulating a championship shot while practicing.

1)Deliberate practice is designed specifically to improve performance. The key word is "designed." The essence of deliberate practice is continually stretching an individual just beyond his or her current abilities. That may sound obvious, but most of us don't do it in the activities we think of as practice. At the driving range or at the piano, most of us are just doing what we've done before and hoping to maintain the level of performance that we probably reached long ago.
