CertWork Project <ul><li>CertWork Project (3 year project funded by the Government of Canada – Foreign Credentials Recognition Branch) </li></ul><ul><li>Partnership between the Centre for Education and Work and the Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters (Manitoba) </li></ul><ul><li>Work- Based Managerial Certificate verifying managerial skills and experience </li></ul>

The Work-Based Certification Project Responds to Labour Market Needs <ul><li>Canadian companies need skilled managers </li></ul><ul><li>Immigrants are a rich source of potential managers </li></ul><ul><li>Canadian companies often are not able to assess offshore credentials and experience in relation to local and regional needs, especially in non-regulated professions </li></ul>
  8. 8. Immigrant Candidates <ul><li>Highly skilled immigrants may already have post - secondary credentials and managerial experience in their country of origin </li></ul><ul><li>Many would benefit from a Canadian credential but would not want to re-do university or college </li></ul>

CertWork Project Scope <ul><li>A certificate based on industry-determined standards for the position of Manager (manufacturing) </li></ul><ul><li>A training program for company-based assessors and mentors </li></ul><ul><li>A mentorship and assessment system for immigrants with managerial experience to demonstrate their skills and experience </li></ul>
