    Google Online Marketing Challenge MMU brief 1 - Presentation Transcript

    1. Introductory briefing 21 st February 2008. Cyberjaya. Malaysia
    2. What do I need to do?
      • Create a pre campaign report
      • Promote the selected business
      • Prepare a post campaign report
      • Wait to hear the good news
    3. When does it start and end?
      • Start date : 10 th of February 2008
      • End Date : 28 th of May 2008
      • Pre campaign report – 1 week prior starting
      • 21 straight days of campaign
      • Post campaign report – in 3 weeks of ending
    4. How can I join?
      • Gather a team of 4 people
      • Select a business from the given list or from your choice of companies
      • Prepare the adwords information for the selected company
      • Get the 200 USD credit from the lecturer (5 working days delay)
    5. Why should you join?
      • This is not an assignment, this is an opportunity
      • Chance of getting prizes
      • Gather media attention
      • Be the next online guru
    6. How are you going to start (1)
      • Prepare your team. Either get your own team of 4 person or select from the list of people and convince them to join you.
      • Get a Google account (Gmail) if you don’t have
      • Join the MMU Gomcha group, blog, apps and all that is required
      • Select your business
      • Give them the letter to sign up
    7. How are we going to start(2)
      • Read up Google online marketing challenge. Make sure you understand everything that they say
      • Talk to your selected business owners to find out how you can fill up the report
      • Fill up the report and upload to the apps
      • Do a youtube video (?) to help you promote
      • Select a newspaper from the list and tell them about you. Get them to talk to you.
      • MOST important. Make friends with other teams and help each other. You WILL surely need them.
    8. We started. Now what?
      • Once you have the pre campaign report ready, apply for the credit.
      • Once you got the credit start promoting.
      • Constantly check and update the blog entries on what you are doing and how are you doing
      • Check daily analytics and think what else you can do
      • Give some interviews in newspapers that want to interview you.
    9. How will Google judge us?
      • The Challenge has two written components and one computed component.
      • • Pre-Campaign Strategy
      • • Post-Campaign Summary
      • • Campaign Statistics
      • When selecting finalists, Google will compare all Campaign Statistics across the population of students taking part in the competition to determine the top teams.
    10. How will Google judge us?
      • Once the top five in each region have been chosen, an independent Global Academic Panel will then review the Pre-Campaign Strategy and Post-Campaign Summary reports to determine the regional and global winners.
      • It takes great Campaign Statistics to make the top five in each region, and then great written reports to win
    11. Done with 21 days. Now what?
      • Once you have finished the 21 days, fill up the 2 nd word documents (post campaign report) and upload to the apps
      • Once it is approved, submit it online
      • You are done. Now prepare your bags to travel 
    12. Challenge is over. What next?
      • Sit for GAP exam. Since you have a thorough knowledge of Google Adwords now, you should be able to pass with flying colors.
      • With your GAP certificate you can start doing consultancy, open up a SEO company, become an adwords certified business partner for Google
      • Start writing columns in newspapers and let people know that you are an expert.
      • Remember, this might look like an assignment. But it is not, it is an opportunity.
      • This is a great way you can be a known figure in the world.
      • Ensure you fully utilize this chance
