- Here is what we are doing in CA. Of course there are lots of reasons to do solar other than Carbon reduction—but this is the most important metric at present.
- PV is an important part, though other measures are even more impactful – EE What CA is trying to accomplish is really unprecedented in the US… Decrease in energy consumption in absolute terms.
- That’s a lot of solar! One of the ways we have been successful in increasing the adoption of solar technologies is through marketing and community outreach. The Solar Map is a great example of this effort. It was created in conjunction with the City of San Diego and the consulting firm CH2MHill, through funding from the Department of Energy. The map shows all PV and SWH installations in the county broken out by host customer sector.
- Growth of solar in the region has been supported by state rebate programs, two of which (SGIP and CSI) are administered by CCSE.
- Due to past program successes, CCSE was also granted administration of the Solar Water Heating Pilot Program. The largest rebate program of its kind in the state. Our success with the pilot program has led the Public Utilities Commission to propose a state-wide Solar Water Heating Rebate Program, with CCSE taking charge of administration in the San Diego Region.
