The CDM-R is a system first published in 1976 that combines an assessment of interest, work values, subject matter preferences, and self-estimates of abilities with biennial updates of career information. Over the years, it has had multiple revisions. This session will look at the latest revision which is more efficient in its new Web-based format.

  • 20. Introducing the NEW Career Decision Making (CDM-R) Internet Administration and Interpretation
  • 21. Once users (i.e. students) have either purchased a User Name and Password or been assigned one by a counselor / teacher / administrator, they can log into the CDM Internet system!
  • 22. User enters the user name and password that was assigned to them by their counselor or administrator
  • 23. Once logged in, students will be immediately prompted to change their password!
  • 24. Once they have changed their password, they click “Next” to start the assessment.
  • 25. A summary profile will appear on the next five screens as you make your choices, view a choice, change a choice, or move to another selection
  • 26. This profile is showing Technical & Math-Science Then on to the next activity Click on two career clusters you like best

  • 28. The CDM Internet system will catch whether the user tries to add more than the allotted response. Next

  • 41. FAQs ( located at the bottom of the Interpretive Report) FAQs addresses topics such as: “ How can I increase my chances of making good career decision?” –or— “Why am I having trouble deciding on a career?”
  • 42. SPECIAL FEATURE! After the user completes the CDM-R assessment, they can return as many times as they’d like to view and print their Interpretive Report, plus access links to the College Board and Occupational Outlook Handbook online. *At this point, there is no expiration date set to each user’s login information

CDM Internet Site Administrators Can: <ul><li>Assign administrations to one student, or many at a time </li></ul><ul><li>Track when students last logged in or completed the assessment </li></ul><ul><li>View students’ results and Interpretive Report </li></ul><ul><li>See which careers students bookmarked as ones of which they show interest </li></ul><ul><li>Always have visibility of how many administrations are remaining in their account </li></ul>
  • 44. CDM-R Operations
  • 45. Once administrator or counselor has set up a Pearson account and purchased vouchers, they can login to the CDM Internet system and assign their student(s) administration(s).
  • 46. Site Administrators’ user names are always their Pearson Account Number Administrator enters the password that was Emailed to them when voucher(s) were assigned by Client Relations NOTE: Pearson Account numbers are used to prevent any duplication of user names!
  • 47. Administrators have the option of choosing one student a user name and password, or assigning many administrations at once.
  • 48. When assigning one administration at a time, the administrator / counselor must make up a user name for their student and fill in their First and Last name.
  • 49. NOTE: When the counselor enters a user’s E-mail address, an automatic E-mail is sent to the user with their User Name and Password.
  • 50. If the E-mail address field is left blank, the password is automatically defaulted to become the user name. i.e. Jane Doe’s User Name and Password would both be jdoe.
  • 51. Once a user name has been assigned and saved, it will show up every time the counselor or administrator logs in.
  • 52. If the counselor needs to change the user name or password, they can go back in by clicking on the student’s name and do so.
  • 53. Once the administrator has made their changes in the student’s name or email, they click “Update”. Once they have changed the student’s password, they click “Change Password”.
  • 54. ADDED CONVENIENCE: Counselors/administrators also have the option of assigning a whole class their user names and passwords with one step.
  • 55. Here they will decide the prefix of all user names (i.e. Career Class X) The default password can be left blank and the system to will assign password. Fill in the number of students and click “Generate”. Option of making user name and password the same
  • 56. For example, here the counselor has assigned the user name prefix as CareerClass1, the sequence will start at 1, the system will automatically generate default passwords, and they have five students to create logins for.
  • 57. Now generated, the names show up in their CDM Internet account.

  • 59. And here are the default passwords that their teachers can give out to their students.
  • 60. The counselor/administrator can still go in and alter the name of the student/user name and password information or add an email address.
  • 61. For example, they can reset the user’s password here .
  • 62. The counselor/administrator can keep track of when their students take the assessment.
  • 63. The counselor/administrator can keep track of how many careers the students have bookmarked and the number of times viewed.
  • 64. The counselor/administrator can also view and print the students’ results.
  • 65. If the student has not yet taken their assessment, the counselor still has the option to delete the user and gain back that administration.
  • 66. The counselor can always keep track of how many administrations they have left.
