Slide five is a link to very simple three-step tutorial that will have you creating your first blog in about one minute on blogger. Yea! Share the video with your students and they too will be instant bloggers.

The video is an excellent tutorial on using bloglines to keep track of all the blogs that interest you. Instead of bookmarking all the blogs you can use an aggregator (such as bloglines) to collect and compile new entries published on your favorite blogs.

In the live presentation I suggest you use Google to start your search for blogs to read. Isn’t this where we start a search for anything? To use Google to find blogs just 1)go to Google 2)Open the ’more’ menu and select blogs 3)type your search terms as you normally would. *POOF* all results are restricted to blog entries.

Once you find blogs that you like you’ll notice that bloggers often have links to other bloggers that write on the topics listed on their site. This list of related blogs is called the ’blogroll’

On slide ’2’ I show a video by Robin Good. Robin Good is a prolific commentator on all manner of new media and is also a well-known blogger. I rather like his simple one minute definition of a blog. BTW, he has interviewed scores of folks (see his website link in the video) who blog, who write, who work in the technology industry, who live in this century and has asked them all to help him define the term ’blog’.

Hi folks, Too bad the audio didn’t work in the conference room at Hotel Roanoke... ...and then the Internet failed! No worries, all the slides are here on slideshare. You won’t see the video clips directly on the slides but you can click the hyperlinks on the slides that contain video and they will open in another window for you to watch from their original locations.

But what about your ’lovely’ voice?

Believe me, you can figure out everything you need to get started with the information on the slides and the linked videos. You lose only my ’showmanship’ by going without my as narrator and that is hardly a loss. Cheers!
