Overall, the article gave a very strong argument on the relationship between the two.
The article, “The Attitude-Behavior Relationship in Consumer Conduct: The Role of Norms, Past Behavior, and Self-Identity” discusses the effect of the anger has on our consumer practices. The strength of the article was that it brought a new perspective on how our emotions tie in with our buying habits and spending habits. The weaknesses of this article are that the researcher compiled his research based on a soda survey. Since the data in the research is not always compatible to all individuals, it seems to be a somewhat weak bases.
According to the article there is a significant difference in how men and women react to anger. It is believed that men tend to react with anger while women tend to be much more passive. There is a little weakness in the theory and that is due to the lack of solid statistics to reinforce the theory that men react with anger while women react by being passive. While the emotion of anger is complicated it can be simplified in definition only. Overall, the emotion of anger and how differently men and women react is difficult to research due to the many variables involved, such as one’s culture, ethnic background, and so forth.
It is extremely important that attachments are developed as children. Attachment, Anger, and Aggression focuses on how often anger is the result of fear. If an individual is able to develop attachment then there is less fear resulting in less anger and therefore less aggression. The strenght of the article is that it helps the reader see how certain individual’s anger is resulting from fear which results from inability to develop attachments.
Anger can result in both a negative or positive effect depending on how it is used. If an individual is angry at something such as drug dealers in their town and they unite others who feel just as strong as they do they can use that anger in a positive way. A strength in the article is that it showed how anger can be used in a positive manner instead of negative. In addition, another strong point is that the article focuses on the point that anger can be positive.
An individual’s low self-esteem sometimes results in anger due to their feelings of inadequacy. This at times end up resulting in violence. Strengths of the article are that it discuses how individual’s with an inflated self-esteem is really a low self-esteem, which results in frustration and ultimately in violence.
There is a strong relationship between children who are exposed to anger and the impact that it has on their attention span and their mental health. Children exposed to anger will either internalize anger or externalize. The weakness of the article is that it does not expound on the different ways that anger is internalized or externalized by children. The article does focus on the mental health of the child.
The article, The Impact of Family Violence on Children and Adolescents addresses the impact of anger on the entire family, however, it focuses on how it affects children and their ability to cope with anger. One of the strengths of the article is that it highlights how children surrounded by anger is affected in a variety of ways such as their cognitive functioning, social functioning and the way they handle their problems. The article also focuses on that when exposed to anger, children will have difficulty in handling their problems; they will either internalize or externalize their problems and have the potential to develop attachments with their parents. Their will also be social development issues and often times their will be issues between siblings.
