Production and Market of Turpentine in China

"Description: ...

"Description:
Driven by rigid demand from overseas market and increasing domestic consumption volume, China’s turpentine industry developed fast in the past few years.

China’s turpentine mainly refers to gum turpentine owing to the small amount of crude sulphate turpentine and wood turpentine. China has abundant pine resources, which provides great potential for oleoresin supply. However, in the past two years, gum turpentine’s output decreased much in major producing areas, especially Guangxi, Guangdong and Jiangxi.

Output reduction of turpentine has caused tight supply in recent two years, which is the main reason why its price maintained a continuous and rapid growth.

Chinese export volume of turpentine has dropped sharply in recent three years. Is it just caused by international demand decline after global financial crisis?

In recent years, with rapid development of derivative industries, domestic consumption volume of turpentine has been increasing.

Detailed answers of the above focuses will be given in this report, providing you an insightful analysis in the following aspects:

- Production of gum turpentine and crude sulphate turpentine in the past few years in China
- Key factors influencing the price of gum turpentine and prices in the past few years
- Detailed analysis of export & import of Chinese gum turpentine in 2007~2009
- Consumption structure of turpentine in 2007~2009
- Market size and market share of gum turpentine in major end use segments in 2007~2009
- Future forecast on the production, export and consumption of Chinese gum turpentine in the next 5~10 years
- Introduction to top 39 gum turpentine producers and 12 crude sulphate turpentine producers in China and the latest dynamics of Chinese turpentine industry

China is the largest producer of gum rosin in the world but poor in wood pulp production, so most commercial product is GT. • CCM Data & Primary Intelligence The output of gum turpentine is greatly influenced by that of gum rosin in China. Despite China has an abundant pine resource to guarantee sufficient supply for gum rosin production, the output of gum rosin has dropped in recent two years because of fallen demand due to global economic depression after it hit a record high in 2006. Therefore, the output of GT also fell in recent two years. The price of GT changes periodically, resulting from the seasonal price changes of oleoresin. Generally speaking, in April and May when the tapping of oleoresin starts, the purchasing price of oleoresin is high, and it will decrease and keep stable from June to September. In October, the purchasing price will further decrease and reach to the lowest in December. Along with rapid development of domestic GT derivative production in China, Chinese export volume of GT has dropped sharply in recent three years. In 2009, the export volume of turpentine is xxx tonnes (over xx% volume belongs to GT), down xx% compared with that in 2008. In China, GT is mainly used in the production of terpene resins, pinene, synthetic camphor, terpeneol, pine oil, synthetic borneol and so on. Terpene resins is mainly consumed in domestic market, and other derivatives including synthetic camphor, synthetic borneol, terpeneol, pine oil and synthetic perfume are mainly for export. The apparent consumption of GT kept increasing stably during 2004 to 2009, with CAGR of xx%. However, greatly influenced by global economy depression, its apparent consumption dropped much in 2008 since most of its derivatives were for export. As to CST, only nine active paper mills recycled it in 2009, and the output kept decreasing in the past few years due to wood pulp production with fast-growing trees and pulp production with waste paper. In 2009, the output of CST is only xxx tonnes in China, and about xx tonnes CST is exported. CST is mainly directly used in fuel, painting & coating, solvent, and the production of derivatives. Character of CCM' Report: The aim of this report is to provide powerful assistance to the strategy group and the management team in making correct decision as how to penetrate the ever-increasing China market and how to catch the maximum commercial opportunities. The report is formulated independently by CCM’s professional market researchers, based on the first-hand and primary data which are analyzed by scientific methodology, confirmed with both manufacturers/end users/traders and legal authorities, and presented in a logic way.
