"Description:
With increasing demand from downstream industries and support from Chinese government, PVP production and consumption has been growing rapidly in the past few years, and China has become one of most important PVP producers in the world with larger export volume. However, affected by global financial crisis, most PVP’s downstream industries have witnessed a downturn since late 2008, which seriously impacted PVP industry both in domestic and overseas market. How did China’s PVP overcome the difficulties? This report will show you what can China's PVP industry benefit from the global economy recovery starting from later 2009.

What is more, serious supply surplus has led to intense competition and driven down PVP price. How do Chinese PVP producers deal with this situation? Though domestic PVP’s capacity and output is large, imported PVP still takes up considerable market share in many of its downstream industries, then this report will show you what kinds of product the end users need.

Besides the above points, we will also focus on:
- Current technological progress
- Influencing factors for PVP pricing
- The trend of PVP and downstream industries in the future
- Strengths and weaknesses of current PVP producers

  3. 3. CCM Data & Primary Intelligence VI-11 Zhejiang Hangzhou Yinhu Chemical Co., Ltd. 42 Executive summary: After several years’ fast development, China has become one of the most important Polyvinyl Pyrrolidone (PVP) producers in the world. Current PVP capacity in China exceeds demand greatly, resulting in intense competition. Actual PVP output was xxxxx tonnes in 2009, over four times of the output in 2004, which was xxxxx tonnes. As of Jul. 2010, there are xx active and x idle PVP producers with total capacity of xxxxxx t/a in China. The top 5 producers produced totally xxxxx tonnes of PVP in 2009, taking up xxxxx% of China’s total output. Henan NKY and Zhejiang Nanhang are the top two PVP players in China with output of xxxxx tonnes and 1,680 tonnes, constituting xxxxx% and xxxxx% respectively of national total in 2009. PVP production is mainly concentrated in Henan and Zhejiang, with total output accounting for xxxxx% of China’s total in 2009. - Technology NVP production by acetylene method is the dominative technology in China. Seven of the xx producers adopt this route for PVP production with output accounting for about xxxxx% of China’s total in 2009. Non-acetylene route is about to be eliminated in the future. - Raw materials Supply of GBL and acetylith is sufficient, but price fluctuation of these two raw materials affects PVP industry greatly. MEA supply is not sufficient, so producers adopting non-acetylene route may need to purchase MEA from overseas market, which leads to increase in production cost. - PVP Import & Export PVP’s import volume reduced slightly to xxx tonnes, while its export volume increased rapidly to xxxxx tonnes in 2009. Imported PVP still took up about xxxx% market share of China’s total consumption that year. - PVP consumption PVP is mainly used in pharmaceutical, daily chemicals, office supplies, and other downstream industries. PVP consumption has been growing fast in the past few years, which reached xxxxx tonnes in 2009, up xxxxx% over 2008. Pharmaceutical industry and daily chemical industry are the two largest downstream industries of PVP, consuming xxxxx% and xxxxx% of total PVP in China respectively in 2009. Office supplies are the third largest application field of PVP, which consumed about 26.31% of China’s total PVP in 2009. Character of CCM' Report: The aim of this report is to provide powerful assistance to the strategy group and the management team in making correct decision as how to penetrate the ever-increasing China market and how to catch the maximum commercial opportunities. The report is formulated independently by CCM’s professional market researchers, based on the first-hand and primary data which are analyzed by scientific methodology, confirmed with both manufacturers/end users/traders and legal authorities, and presented in a logic way.
