OUR STORYMac Mannes, Inc. opened in 1939 by none other than Mac Mannes. The retail store at 1332 G Street, two blocks from the White House, carried gifts and house
wares. It was fashioned after the famous Hammacher Schlemer store in New York City. In 1957, Mac’s son, John launched the specialty advertising branch,
supplying imprinted knives to a coffee vending company. The order for 2500 pieces was the largest sale the store had ever had. The White House, Capitol Airlines,
Southern Railway and IBM all developed into large corporate accounts. Steve Edwards joined John in sales in 1977, becoming President in 1985 and retiring in
2006 when he handed the reins to tenured salesperson, Chris Huebner. In 2007 we celebrated our 50th anniversary of the promotional product aspect of the
business. Our dedicated staff continues to be our most important asset.

Mac Mannes opened in 1939 carrying
gifts and housewares fashioned after
the famous Hammacher Schlemer store
in New York.
Mac Mannes closed the doors on their
retail operations and launched a state of
the art industrial incentive and gifts
company.
Seventeen years after switching over to
the ad specialty business, Mac Mannes
decided to revamp the logo aiming
towards the promotional side of the
company.
After Steve Edwards became the owner
of the company in 1985, seven years
later he had the logo changed to
something more modern.
Mac Mannes celebrated their 50th
Anniversary and redesigned the logo
highlighting our DC heritage.
Mac Mannes moves from MacArthur Blvd.
to their current offices in Bethesda, MD.

DVT Design Kit
A custom Design Kit was created
with all of the tools needed to
design your own socks. DVT
Awareness by Design is a visual
way for people to show their
support and increase awareness for
DVT. The client hoped that by
designing a sock and wearing it
proudly the recipient would serve
as an ambassador in their
community to educate colleagues,
patients, friends and family about
DVT care and treatment.
Destination DC Tote Bag
Our friends at Destination DC came
up with an beautiful bag design,
and Mac Mannes brought it to life.
This eco-friendly tote helps
celebrate the 100th Anniversary of
Cherry Blossoms in our Nation’s
Capital. Each year, the National
Cherry Blossom Festival celebrates
spring in Washington, DC, the gift
of the cherry blossom trees, and
the enduring friendship between the
people of the United States and
Japan. The totes will be given out
to tourists around the world, and
will be sold at retail.
Just Say No
Back in 1980, First Lady Nancy
Reagan created and championed
the “Just Say No” slogan, an
advertising campaign, part of the
U.S. "War on Drugs", prevalent
during the 1980s and early 1990s.
Mac Mannes produced tons of
promotional material for the
campaign. Mac Mannes’ Vice
President Scott Gibson recollects,
“It was fun. A simple targeted
message. The press was all over
it.” Here’s a photo of our vintage
buttons.
GW Towel
For years, Mac Mannes has
produced the towel given to The
George Washington University's
incoming freshman student during
Colonial Inauguration. This year
GW had a #gwtowel twitter
campaign for students to show
where they were using the towel.
Students were proud show off the
towel and the interesting places
they visited. #GWTOWEL
